Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
All is well - made the final change. - new inlets stubs - bit of back and forth with wemoto (who are great as usual) as they only stock the restrictor plate version which is down the replacement on the 1999 bike. - here's the interesting bit the front inlet had no metal ring (rear was completely standard) - no signs of it being removed - I've attached a pic - could be an after market item.
massive thanks for all the advice on the thread - not 100% on what change made the big difference - at least now I have a good base set up and a rideable bike
For anyone struggling here'a summary of my changes - only issue which I think is just a Firestorm feature - on my test route there a 100mph + straight - heavy braking to 90 degree corner - if the rev drop below 3500 it stutters coming out of the bend - other than that it works well on every other part of my route pulling from 2000rpm cleanly and idling nicely when stopped
Replace open cans with Delkovic 350mm
Dynojet kit removed - slides back to two holes
Jetted down from 190/190 to 175/178
Retained 50 pilot jets
Retained Denotejet needle 4th notch
New float needles
Fuel screw FR 2 1/4 and R 2 1/2 turns
TPS set to 500K
Fuel tap refurb kit
New Tank Cap
New Inlet stubs (non restricted 110KW)
RC45 throttle tube

Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
sorry - Pilot Jets are 48
Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
You can easily pull the aluminium restrictor ring out using pliers.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
Good to hear all is well, and that you have fixed the problem

that stutter you have, i assume you mean after a high speed run down to low speed say on the brakes? you open it up then you get the stutter?Harveyz wrote: ↑Tue May 30, 2023 9:48 am All is well - made the final change. - new inlets stubs - bit of back and forth with wemoto (who are great as usual) as they only stock the restrictor plate version which is down the replacement on the 1999 bike. - here's the interesting bit the front inlet had no metal ring (rear was completely standard) - no signs of it being removed - I've attached a pic - could be an after market item.

if thats the case pull the two pipes (overflows) outa the carb cradle ,shorten them a little and point then vertically down between the cradle and carbs that stops the stutter.
the older i get,the faster i was

Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
That sounds like the problem - the pipes are outside the carb cradle and have been shortened by previous owner - but they were angled at 45 degrees - moved to pointing vertically down -will give it another run to see if it works
Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
I realise this is an old thread, but out of interest did facing the carb pipes vertically down make any difference to the problem you were experiencing with the stutter?

Hi I've not used it since August last - from what I remember I gave it a quick blast and it did seem better - had a bit of a tank slapper after an involuntary wheelie over a hump back bridge (blame RC45 throttle tube) - realised my steering head bearing were a bit shot. - so took it off the road over the winter - did new bearings and greasing up the rest - not used so far this year as MOT ran out and been busy with my other bikes - but plan to get it back on the road this month.
Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
it cured mine on the spot, i was getting bad stutter outa the hairpin at kirky when i went to open the thottle, tore the tank and airbox of, cut the pipes and the next session and ever since problem gone

the older i get,the faster i was

As Rob (Fabiostar) said it should have done the trickHarveyz wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 1:04 pmHi I've not used it since August last - from what I remember I gave it a quick blast and it did seem better - had a bit of a tank slapper after an involuntary wheelie over a hump back bridge (blame RC45 throttle tube) - realised my steering head bearing were a bit shot. - so took it off the road over the winter - did new bearings and greasing up the rest - not used so far this year as MOT ran out and been busy with my other bikes - but plan to get it back on the road this month.

Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
At last - some light at the end of the tunnel! I've had the same stuttering problem on my '05 Storm track bike when braking for Turn 1 at my local track. The straight is 1km long so you get good speed before having to brake for the turn. I put it down to fuel in the tank surging to the front under braking and consequent fuel starvation when opening up the throttle exiting the turn. My fix was to throttle off early before braking but that isn't conducive to good lap times
I'll try pointing the breather pipes straight down. We've got a big meeting for all of next week so plenty of time to see if it works. Will keep you posted

Re: Can I use Dynojet needles with standard main jets?
Well, what a difference moving the breather tubes has made! Who'd have thought such a simple change would make so much difference. CAn now brake as late as I dare and as hard as I like and exit the turn without spluttering.
