How does the carb/dust cowl fit

Hi Happy Friday - I realised that my Firestorm doesn't have the carb dust/air intake cowl - strangely spoke to a chap who plays with Fireblade's and he mentioned that he's' found on the carb version they run rougher without one - I managed to pick on up one eBay - couldn't hurt to fit one - it appears to be in two parts big - plastic tray and much smaller one one - anybody help point me in the right direction how it fits to same me hours of head scratching - Honda workshop manual does seem to show it - cheers

Your Fireblade guy is right, these bikes need the carb undertray. It consist of the actual tray with two separate smaller pieces that fit nearer the front of the tray, one left of the headstock and the other right of the headstock. The one on the righthand side (rear brake pedal side) is where the throttle cables enter the tray to gain access to the carbs (see pic). Off the top of my head all three parts are held in place with panel clips which are the same as the two under your seat fairing, and the two that clip your front fairing to the metal bracket that stick out under the radiators, that is if you still have those on your bike.

Took the beast for a MOT today - couldn't believe the difference in running and throttle response under 4k that fitting the under tray seems to have made - instead of trying to kill me in traffic. I took the long way home . Big thanks to all who have give advice and guidance over this last 18 months.

i feel your pain on the undertray problem i spent months tring to get my bike to run a few years ago and it was because the tray i fitted had been trimmed down a little,, said tray got burnt.
