The anti-judder spring sits with the raised outer edge facing outwards from the clutch basket, I believe.
is that the way round yours was fitted, Benny?

it is now! it was fitted like this (|]- which is wrong. it's now like this )|]- which is correct, and does not grab.
or judder, or slip, but that could be a combination of correct assembly, plus the new friction plates and uprated springs

cheers for the tip on the quietening gear too tony, as you said, no detriment at all and no noticeable difference in idling noise.
regarding the other bit i removed... it now pulls smoothly and chugs along happily at 20 / 30mph whereas before it was near impossible to ride at low town speed without half clutching it and even then the chain was jerking about.
thats the reason i didnt want to do my advanced on it as it was only happy when accelerating.
it still pulls very hard up to the limiter but doesnt seem as urgent about it as before, but for the smoothness i'll take the sacrifice.
if i was racing it i'd keep it how it was, but for the road mileage i do i'd rather it was a bit more practical to ride in traffic and in 30 - 40 limits

I ahve a similar issue with mine chugging like mad at low speed.
I have #48 pilots on the way now to try and correct any low end lean issues.

As for the other clutch still grabbing? Could be a track worn into the seat of the anti-judder spring.

Could be, CJ, but I had a close look and there's no wear at all.
The AJ spring and it's seat don't rotate against each other, so there's no reason for it to wear, really.

Fair enough.
I pulled the sprocket cover off mine and cleaned the rod and that may have been contributing a bit to the grabbibg in mine after a so many k's as well.
I am due to install the 4deg advance unit soon so I will have a look at everything then and report back.

Solved.
Reviving a very old thread.
Clutch issue, grabbing on take off at revs over 2,200
I removed the Anti Judder spring and left the set for a time. still happened.
I then moved anti judder seat and reinstalled the spring in the fourth plate out in the clutch and magically the problem has gone.

I had found a set of instructions for a clutch kit that specified not installing the Anti Judder set up in the back of the clutch as per the manual, but further out.
I put them in the third or fourth slot.

Instructions were for an Anti Hopping slipper clutch in Italo/English, my interpretation in {Brackets}

7. This slipper clutch is designed for using STD clutch plates. NEVER instal first friction late with
whin {thin} steel rings on first position! Install anoher friction plae at first , then steel plate( h ), and after
the friction plate with bigger inside dimeter and both steel rings ( h, ). Instal all other clutch plates in
same position as before ( i ).
