Did you check the carb diaphragms?
(I wish I had not asked this question as I can't seem to find anyone supplying them)

Both seem fine.

At last some good news, it was about time you had some good luck after all you have been trying. I'm really pleased to hear it, well done for perseveringLancer wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2024 3:44 pm Update:
Fitted a S/H set of carbs, complete unknowns, bought them off eBay. Didn’t check them over or anything just fitted them to the bike.
The bike fired up, warmed up and ran. Woo Hoo Happy Days
Some popping and farting and sometimes erratic tick over but at least it would tick over !! Finally a step in the right direction !!
Both exhaust downpipes the same temperature at about 400 C
Any suggestions on how to set up the carbs, at least a basic set up to get it running a bit smoother before I put the bike back together ?
Also, any ideas on what could have gone wrong with my original carbs to cause such a dramatic failure. I have had them apart. They are clean with no obvious blockages, jets clean, diaphragms ok ?
Dave

Here's a link from our late friend Mike (8541Hawk) giving a baseline for setting up the carbs:

You will need to balance the carbs if not already done by you.
You can check the chokes on the old carbs to make sure they are operating as they should, and not staying on, especially for the front carb, just take care when undoing those choke nuts, easy to break those fittings,
Chris.
Re: Serious Misfire No Power
Mine had the popping and farting the first time I got the bike up and running, so bad that it kept shooting off the rubber cap that was pressed onto the vacuum port under the front intake on the engine. Once I reset the TPS to 500ohm and balanced the carbs it vanished completely. You'll need a multimeter to do the TPS, and the carbs can be balanced either with balance gauges or a home made manometer.

Well done for funding the problem area. Like you, I would have to know what it was in the original carbs that caused the issue- even if only to fix it and leave me with a good spare set.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
