Southern Softies Meet up Wales '24...

Friday 13 Sept.

Here is the Plan for meeting up on Route...

Mainly M/ways but planning for Fuel stops, fag brakes, pi ss stops & grub...

The first meet point is Clacket lane services TN16 2ER 09.00 hrs leaving @ 09.45 at the very latest... Meet point is the fuel station.

Then M25 J15 onto M4...Reading Services RG30 3UQ. Midway between J11 & J12... From Clacket its 68miles ETA 11.30 time for a break then fule up aim to leave 12.00. hrs.

So If you don't want to meet at Clacket, meet us at Reading. Again fule station is best place to meet.

All fuled up, legs stretched, bladders empty...Destination Aust services..Although appraently it's not called that any more it's now the ''Severn View services'' BS35 4BH & remember it,s not directly off the M4 . You leave M4 & join M48 leave at J1 & follow signs...

From Reading its 84 miles so ETA is 13.30... This being lunch time we may have a longer stop & it's a chance for other folks to meet up... For the final ride to Rayader... 83 miles aprrox 2 hrs...

Remember to pack spare grundies & a towel...No.42 !

Waterproofs are an option but looks like they will be needed...Bahhh!
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

I'll be going up the day before Mac so don't hang around at Aust services for me.
Don't worry, I'll make sure all your pillows are plumped and ready for when you arrive.
Ride safe guys :P

So the bike's all ready to go.
In order to make life more interesting, I'll strip it all apart tomorrow to fit a manual fan switch to try to get a head start on it overheating in slow (sub 35mph) traffic.
I'll then be able to start the fan a bit earlier than it would automatically come on.

Same strip down as I did to reach cabling at Mac's workshop day earlier this year. Not tricky, just time consuming - if I don't blow fuses like I did at Mac's!

Hopefully it'll all be back together and behaving itself by Thursday morning.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Are there any Southern Softies riding over on the Friday? (Like the good old days?)

Yes Jamie, contact Jones to meet up with him & ride down together or just show up at Clacket Lane @ the fuel station, 09,00 aiming to leave at 09.30... Image

Dates are wrong but Postcodes & timings still remain...

Remember how back in the 90's, turbo'd cars used to have an intercooler cooling button? I think it sprayed water on to the intercooler. The very height of hi-tech performance motoring.

You've probably got enough time to pop out to B and Q... grab one of those pump up garden fence spraying bottles and a ratchet strap, hey presto! A fancy cooling system at the touch of a button!

Well, day one (Friday 13th Part 1 and Part 2) went pretty well, six of us kept together and it stayed dry.
Some great roads, Alastair built a great route and we had a stop or two:

We even got a bit of culcher at Harlech Castle- or, more accurately, Harlech Castle Cafe.

Wasn't as cold as we'd expected. Roll on tomorrow!
