hi,this might be a stupid question but what size alan keys are needed for the crank and inspection covers,6 and 10 are very loose just checking there not 7 and 11 and I need to get a couple of fresh keys or wether its hammer time again as mine look slightly butchered.as usual the rest of the job looks prity straight forward. cheers

Best get 3/8 allen/hex sockets - only about £15 for a rail set from Halfords or online and useful for all the other allen bolts dotted throughout the bike.

Not sure how this will work as it's a 10 year old post but here we go anyway.
I have just completed the ctt mission as per Sirch's instructions & it worked a treat,
I did have a drama as when I replaced the front ctt I heard a "click" & had read that was bad,
after reassembly she ran like a bucket busted bolts & I thought she had jumped a tooth on the front cam, bugger,
pulled the whole thing apart & couldn't really see anything obviously wrong, the marks on the front exhaust cam sprocket weren't perfect but would have been less perfect if I moved it , f it change it anyway & see, so whilst winding back the front cct to make the change it slipped, "clink", that was the noise I head, the cct unwinding, baldrocks put her all back together again,
quick prayer, turned the key. wouldn't start, bugga, get a can of petrol & a box of matches I'm gonna burn her in the driveway,
so turn the kill switch back on, sigh, pull the trigger & fires up instantly & sit's & idles perfectly ! all is right with the world again,
I must have made a mistake putting her back together the first time, live & learn.
there is a lot of "popping" on overrun/deceleration now but I did replace the air filter with a cheap White bros one & the old Honda one was very dirty so maybe she is a bit leaner now causing extra popping ?
question, what's the air valve thing all about, looks like just more unnecessary plumbing to me, I have read you can get a kit with blanking plates etc or just pull it out & blank off all the tubes ? It would certainly make it easier to get the airbox on & off has anyone got any thoughts either way

If it didn't do it before it's prob an air leak somewhere, check all the exhaust joints & the weld at the joint where the header splits at the back, they often crack there. As for the PAIRS air valve they pop more with them on rip it off. Cheap fix is flip the reeds in the head over, or remove & blank off. Block off all the hoses including the small one on the carb (front right). Bit more expensive get some rocker covers & an air box from a non Pairs bike & swap them over then its just the carb pipe that needs blocking...

These bikes are fairly susceptible to changes to the carburation including non-standard air filters etc, so may be your replacement non OEM air filter is to blame as you’re thinking.

Well worth checking out Mac's suggestions for a possible air or exhaust leak,
