That design turned out great, it would match your storm if you weren’t selling it

Yes, I know Image. It was designed with the storm in mind. I'm glad I didn't paint the bike pink.

Fingers crossed Pete. As Mac says, I'll need to be careful with the pies. I don't think there's much growing room in them.

Well the leathers saga has taken a properly unpleasant turn. It was two weeks from the time I last posted to the leathers arriving, after being told the were ready to ship the next day. When they arrived the neck was massive and the waist too big too. Also no velcro to attach the chest protector. A bit irritating but it's a custom product.

I spoke to DRC and they were fine and happy to fix. I took a trip over there rather than have them collected to make sure the alterations were properly understood. The work took more than a couple of weeks and again I went out of my way to collect them, to be sure they were right. Having given over a week's notice I was very annoyed to find they weren't there. They were in Geneva wind tunnel testing and hadn't thought to let me know. Thanks!

I managed to get in touch with them via Messenger and picked them up via a helpful guy in the unit downstairs. 20+minutes wasted though. I didn't think to check them there and then, but they chest protector velcro still hadn't been fitted. Thankfully the adjustments were OK.

More emails and calls, they rarely responded to emails after the order was placed, and I was told they'd collect the jacket and sort out the mistake. Nothing for nearly two weeks so I rang and heard some rock and bullying sorry about the DPD app being down. The upshot was I sent them back under the promise of the postage being refunded. They had them for two weeks before sending them to be fixed, which meant I didn't get them until a week after I wanted to get the bike out. And guess what, the velcro was in the wrong place.

I had that fixed locally, within two days, and sent a request for the cost to be refunded, and the outstanding postage cost. That was earlier today. About five minutes later I was being sworn at on the phone and told to 'come and collect the cash and use the same language face to face.' An outright threat I think. I didn't swear in my email, and wasn't abusive or rude, I don't think: I was direct and pointed out what I see as poor quality control and customer service. His main issue seemed to be that I didn't say 'Hi Jay' or say please.

So I'm down £17.69 plus two trips to Rotherham and a load of stress trying to push them along so I could use the leathers now the weather has come good. I've given them a week to repay me. I can't see them doing so. A laughable small amount, but it feels a raw deal at the moment.

So all in all, I can't recommend DRC Leathers at all. The worst thing is their branding is all over the jacket and trousers. A fantastic reminder of an unpleasant experience.

What a shame Nick, and so sodding annoying

If only they put the problems right in a timely manor and kept you informed of the progress you would be a happy customer, then you would have felt you were a valued one too. Silly really.

I fully understand how you feel,

Chris.

Sounds like an unpleasant experience in the end. Not the type of customer service we would hope for with a made to measure product. The only cure is to get out on the bike and forget about the the aggressive tw@t

Thanks guys. Writing it down and reading it shows how pathetic the whole situation is. You're absolutely right Chris. Customer service is easy; under promise and over deliver, and always keep the customer informed.

I'm still sore about the way he spoke to me and I'm struggling to shake the anger from that, the bullying and the refusal to accept any fault. But that's good advice Al: I could go down the small claims route but how much riding time will that eat into? Food for thought.

Re: what I have highlighted in yellow above. That's it exactly Nick

I agree not worth taking it further, only more hassle for you too, and as you say wasting your riding time

Take heed in knowing many peeps will have seen your post, so in a roundabout way you are the winner here

Al's suggestion sounds like a good option to me :D

A few words of wisdom for anyone in business who could benefit from this:
It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently.

I see Scott Redding was wearing a DRC suit at assen, having previously been wearing a non leather Vitus suit.

Didn’t realise they had such big name customers… makes it worse if they are now failing the everyday people

Hopefully Scott has a better experience than me. A bit of research for my Google review shows they have two county court judgements against them, both marked 'unsatisfactory'. Which means they haven't paid out. Appalling.

Since the last one the company has been dissolved and a new one sent up, minus a family member as a director. There could be many reasons for that. Maybe he falls out with family as well as customers. Who knows. Time to move on now and get out riding more.

That's the spirit Nick :D :D

Interesting though :eh:
