Thermosensor

Post by gorana »

Hi,
Seems the thermosensor is faulty. This is the one on the thermostat housing on the lhs.
Anyone replaced it without draining the coolant?
Tha manual says to drain the coolant, but I would prefer not to, since I just filled it;)

You'll lose a bit as you swap them over, just have your tools within reach and a smear of silicon on the new one ready before you remove the old one.
Leaning the bike away from you will help, if you have a helper.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Leave the pressure cap on and tight before removal.

That went smooth!
I removed the pressure cap and covered the filling hole with plastic wrap. Only lost a very small amount of cooling liquid.
But the problem with the temp gauge is still there. It only moves just past the first mark. I have checked it's function by grounding the thermo sensor cable, and the it goes to a full stop. Maybe will have to check the thermostat next. Any ideas welcome.

Agree. It takes a lot to get one of these hot under normal circumstances. As long as the fans come on before it gets to the red you're fine.

Thanks for all help!
I removed the thermostat and found that it was stuck open.
Ordered a new one and once in place, I hope it will be OK.
Cheers!
