Parts from abroad?

Post by sirch345 »

I have been thinking about stocking up on a few spares for my Firestorm.

What I can't seem to workout is, if I purchase a part from Japan or America with the same part number as one from the UK, will they be suitable for our UK Storms? How can I check this?

I have been looking at carb parts,

Any advice or guidance on this would be very much appreciated,

Chris.

Yes, if the part number is the same then they'll fit.
Equivalent parts in different market zones have different parts numbers.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Of course that should read 'west country ' not Devon, being that you live in Cornwall...

Hi Chris

Other thank the UK, I have had correctly fitting Firestorm parts from Japan, USA and Mainland Europe and always used the parts number book for my model year(F3).

The Honda publication I use to double check the parts schematics from the likes of Fowlers / CMSNL is part# 13MBBVE8 and you can still get hold of a paper copy from some mainland European parts suppliers but it is also freely available in PDF format (as at today at the link below).

https://hondaclassic.hondaitalia.com/wp ... ALOGUE.pdf

This Honda book covers Firestorm models FV (1997) through to F3 (2003) and is 177 pages long and worth spending a wee bit of time getting to know the parts of the publication relating to your model year.

Happy hunting :D

Many thanks for the confidence vote of purchasing parts from abroad, also for the link to the PDF Parts Catalogue which is ideal, as my bike is a 1999 model (FX)
As you say, good for cross checking part numbers from different suppliers as well. I can hardly believe I have not come across this before, I have only had my Storm for 24yrs
