GREAT reply Ben , bloody good reading ....
I was going to bed but I have to reply first !!

Re Braking , yes I slid across the seat to the right or left depending what corner I`m approaching and get ready so as I don`t upset the balance of the bike and moving into postion before entering the corner .

Got smaller and raised pegs and high lift mig cans ...

Funny you say that about snett in Feb , I was there with my boy last feb and we had a great day , the weather was really good ,a bit damp for the first three sessions but a dry line soon appeared and we both had a brill day , he on his R6 and me on the ZX7R.....
I always use tyre warmers , did last year but was running D208`s , might give the slicks a miss till spring now you mention heat , I can get the heat into them but its keeping it there on a cold circuit, good point !!

Rockingham , ah its all coming back , well we did the national (in field) a good circuit ,not sure of the name of the bend but after you go through the chicane you go round a couple of fast right handers then a shortish straight then into a tight right hander , it happened there , I was a bit hot but no more than the first three sessions I did ....
The front wheel just washed out completely and I was down that quick , just heard the bike scraping on the tarmac and seeing the sky/ground/sky/ground a few times before ending up on the grass !! , I was on a blade that day ..
Well I got up a bit dazzed and was greeted by the marshal who said you ok ? , erm after counting my arms and legs I said yeah what the F**K happened there, he said your front wheel washed out , and I was running supercorsas !!, but it happens a lot .............
Anyway apart from a small friction burn to my elbow I was fine , the blade however was looking very sad and beaten up ! , no more sessions for me that day .......

I`ll check out the forks tomorrow to see if theres any dot marks on them but there quite firm with loads of adjustment to go on the pre-load so I reackon at some stage they have been worked on as I `m told that the oem forks on the storm are very soft ...

And finally the ZX7R , a great bit of kit especially with slicks on , the best track I have ever done was at Brands last year , the indy circuit and used slicks for the first time !!!
WOW amazing !!! , I kid you not after a session or two getting used to them I was going round paddock hill bend planted and doing just over 90mph, which I thought was pretty good for an old en !! , 53 next birthday !
And going around the outside of others at clearways was a real buzz, if you have never rode on slicks you must before you hang ya lid up !!...
The ZX7R is the best planted bike I have ever ridden but bloody heavy and you know you have done a track day afterwards, trouble is there old hat now and not that quick until there rolling and every other bugger has gone !

Phew that will do for now .......

Rob

Well I have to agree, what a good debate this thread has turned out to be :!:

A good point Ben about the center punch marks that Maxton do :!: I'd forgotten about them :!: Also very important what you said about if they are standard and have not been reworked by Maxton. Robbie do check that out as Ben said immediately :!: :!: :!: you could be riding a death trap :!:

All bikes are deathtraps....according to the Royal horsie one...let him be discovery is a learning process, and one reinforced by crunched bones and months of recovery and tube feeding, tend to be unfogettable 8O

Ah yes, that git of a corner!!
Nearly had me off first session after lunch too

Problme was the track is so featureless I was using a light patch of tarmac as a braking marker

First session after lunch and I braked on the same light spot and oh so nearly ended up in the weeds

Turns out the light patch was a reflection of the window of the marshalls hut and it was obviously moving as the sun did!!
Zoiks 8O
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!
