I am sick of other people telling me what is bad for me! I'm fifty bloody three and if I want to go fast and kill myself (not that there is a direct link anyway) then I bloody well will!

Well.. here's a coloner's take on it.
If they made the bikes "speed limited" then what would happen? People would take them off! Older model years would be incompatible with this as it would probably require a FI system to work properly. There are just too many variables for this to be a viable plan.
What I can see, is that if this went through, there would be a sharp decline in new motorcycles and a high rise in used motorcycle sales. Also, I am sure that tuners would find ways to remove the limiter and you'd just have to ride responsibly around the police.
