Ollie Bridewell

Post by curly »

Hi,
I've just read on MCN website that British Superbike rider Ollie Bridewell died today in a crash during practice at Mallory Park.
Apparently the rain has been really bad all day.
Terrible news, I was only watching him race at Oulton last Sunday.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

That's a real shocker!

So young and so much talent and potential to go far!

Here's a news report:

Ollie Bridewell R.I.P.

I'm sure our thoughts are with his family and anyone involved in this sudden and unexpected loss.

Pity the poor guys who're carrying on with the racing this weekend with it fresh in their minds.

It's the life they love and the risks they know and take to live that life - Long may it continue.

gutted to hear the news, Im marshalling there tomorrow and sunday.
Ollie was a local club rider and lives close to me. I see the schedule for the rest of the weekend is no change, probably what Ollie would have wanted. gotta think of Tommy and their parents.
RIP Ollie

Holy crap! :(

Having watched Ollie in R6's and BSB it's a shock to read about this.

Thinking of his brother, team NB and family and I'm sure many other people are equally stunned by the bad news.

His Vale helmets will be missed too :)

RIP

can I just mention as an extra to my earlier post, the marshalls that had to deal with the accident will be on duty again tomorrow, they have to live with the memory of a racer and a friend no longer with the paddock.

Very sad to hear the news.
Sounds like the crash was the same as the club racers, water runs across the track on the exit of the essess and washes dirt and rubbish on to it.
Wouldnt be suprised if Mallory lost the BSB round after this

Andy, funny I was saying that to the wife last night.
Pembrey, Olivers Mount, Darley Moor, Castle Combe all established circuits but no run off areas for the higher speed bikes.
have you noticed on US superbikes they tend to go for fast NASCAR ovals with nadgery infield bits and wide open Sears Point style tracks.
Give it a year and I think it will be Brands, Donnington , Silverstone, Thruxton and Snetterton twice or three times a year bye bye to Oulton ,Croft, Knockhill , Cadwell and Mallory as these have had a few casualties in the last couple of years.

Either that or a limit on the bikes to 600cc as NASCAR speed restrictors would be hard to monitor on bikes.
