Varadero fuel injected 1000F?

Post by derryUK »

Does anyone know if a Varadero FI system has been fitted to a 1000F and what the outcome was?

I might be wrong, but hasn't the varadero got a detuned 999 engine from the SP and not the 996 from the storm

Im not 100% sure on this, but it think there like this:

Varadero with out FI has same engine as FireStorm
Varadero with FI has same engine as SP

Thats going by the Haynes book

Hope that helps

Thanks for that all.

I should have said I am really after the FI bodies themselves to replace my VTR carbs.

You can buy ECUs that you program yourself (I don't just mean remap) for oddball installations. I have a VFR tank so can drive the FI units with it's pump.

I'll just keep dreaming for a while <s>.

I may be out in left field here but I know in the case of snowmobile engines (hey, I'm Canadian, lol), there are typically electronic differences between carbed and injected versions of the same engines (magneto, sensors, ...), it is usually not a simple case of adding injectors and you're off. You may want to look further into the matter or perhaps mount the entire Varadero engine and save yourself a whole lot of frustration. Also, the state of tuning on the Varadero is different too (higher compression, tuned more for low-end and mid-range at the expense of top end).

cheers
