Please help..........im begging...UPDATE
Let me tell you a little story, (im hoping with all your advice it will have a good ending).
I brought my firestorm in january from a local dealer, R plate with 21k on the clock and a full history (more recepts then i can count).
First job on my list was a full service from my local honda dealer, which included vavles, all fluids, oil and air filter and a general check over.
my bike came back running and sounding superb.... result.
there was one advise, which was new chain and sprockets soon.
now, 6 months and only 6 to 7 hundred miles, i decided to get the oil and air filter changed with the new chain and sprockets (i always get the oil changed ever 6 months reguardless of miles).
i got a phone call from the dealer telling me the rear cct is not working at its best and should be replaced, 'no worries' i said, 'whatever you think is best'.
i pick up my bike and on the ride home, get caught in traffic (please dont ask why i didnt filter, its a really long story). when i hear a horrible tapping noise coming from the engine. being close to home i just carried on without stopping.
on arrival, i checked the bike as best as i could and noticed this horrible tapping was coming from the rear cyender (bad spelling, sorry).
A quick phone call to my dealer and a van was sent out to pick my bike up.
when they started the bike at the shop, no noise.. isnt that always the way.
atfer leaving it running for about 30 minutes the noise came back.
the dealer checked as many of the engine componants as they could i.e. everything under the cyender cover and the side cover (sorry, dont know its name.) and found nothing wrong.
they told me that the noise is nothing they have done and if i want it looked at it gonna cost....lots....
after collecting my bike, i went to another mechanic who told me the only thing he thinks it could be is rear cct.
what do you reckon??
the noise itself only happens when the bike is hot, its a tapping noise which gets faster as the revs go up..
everyone agrees the noise is coming from the rear cyender, but not sure if its top or bottom..
This tapping noise was not there before this service, of this im sure....
so if anyone can help or give a little bit of advice, i would be most greatfull..
**********************UPDATE***************************
After taking the bike back to the shop and demanding that the rear cct be changed.. they did... and guess what, still got the noise..
so they changed the front cct as well...and, still got the noise
so the valves were checked..... they are all good....
the clutch cover came off and a worn part was changed, but still got the noise and lastly.. the belly pan was removed to see if there are any metal particles...and guess what. not a Richard bird or metal fragments...
so once again, if anyone can give me anymore ideas then please do.
its getting desperate now, im having to ride a xj 600.....
there is a video posted somewhere on this thread..
once again, thank you for your time.

If you advised them of the problem when you had just picked the bike up, then they can say its nothing to do with them till they are blue in the face, that is preposterous.
It is always awkward, but I would suggest you tell them that it must be something that they have done and you want it put right within 7 days (or whatever period you choose) failing that you will get an independent mechanic to deal with it and sue them for the cost in the small claims court

Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Firstly, check the oil.
They say they've done it, but double check.
If it's really low on oil, it can cause horrid knocking noises too.
Hopefully, it's that.
If not, I'd be arguing with the garage that a CCT they've supposedly replaced should not fail so soon. If it does, it can only be their fault.

Voted most likely to be found dead in park bushes following an act of autoerotic asphyxiation.
hmm, sounds like the tentioner. Thats what mine did. I also was "supposed" to have the cct's changed as part of the deal when I purchased the bike from a dealers. Moral of the story, don't believe them unless you see it with your own eyes.
I eneded up buying a new set and doing it myself so I knew that it was done. As others have said get a second opinion, then take the feckers to the cleaners......

It has to be a) CCT or b) shims under the cam followers not right on the inlet/exhaust valves.
As it didn't do it before hand I'll go with the CCT not being right. They do get worse as oil gets hot hence your half hour wait period. I had this with a new CCT that had been fitted by me as a safeguard as the old rear was working fine but I didn't want to chance it any longer. So I knew the position of cam chain/valves was correct etc.
I had a new spare one that was purchased at the same time to do the front cylinder but hadn't got around to fitting it so fitted that one instead. Problem solved!!!

Before I get the work done I just wanted to make sure it was the CCT, so I have done a video on my phone, have a listen, see what you think.
