Correct me if I'm wrong (unlikely).

If your bike has been SORN then all you need to do to tax it is to turn up at the PO with V5, MOT (valid) and current insurance certificate.

I've not filled out any forms to put a bike back on the road after SORN.

Perhaps it's a new thing? If so it musta come in since March when my Storm came out of hibernation.

Last time I took the wifes Harley off the SORN I had to fill out a form declaring it hadn't been on the road. Also they wouldn't let me tax it four days before the end of the month and as the 1st was bank holiday monday.....do I need to go on? But that was last year maybe it's changed.

nothing wrong with Harleys, weve got 2 and getting a third in the family and more probably to come, the firestorm is ok for a quick dash to work but with knackered wrists and hips the harleys are better. personal choice but we all need each other whatever bike, my eldest is 6 ft 7 in and no way can he fit his size and size 15 feet on the storm. the harley he can modify. After all we are all bike riders .

as for the sorn, you dont fill any paperwork in now, not even a new re-application they do it all on barcodes which is why you can do retax and sorn on line. only problem occurs if the send you a renewall without a number on the V11 then you have to go to PO but they dont need re application form.

I have nothing against Hardley's (much) I think they're perfectly suited to Highways in America, Australia etc. Just not suited to UK Roads. If I lived somewhere like the US, I'd more than likely have one.

SORN - yep can't fault you on that, that's what I said 'ish, no forms to fill out.

As for 'large' framed people - Super Motard 'crossers', Triumph Tigers, Africa Twins etc are ideal bikes.

Storms and other 'race' bikes can be hell on the wrists from the riding position, it is possible to alleviate this if not 'cure' it with risers, rear sets etc. as you'll no doubt be aware.

I agree bikes are personal taste - some people have it and some don't

Hey I did say it was the wife's, she's 5'2" and 7 stone ringing wet and her toes don't reach the ground on the Storm. So she rides a Harley Hugger. Anyway it's horses for courses, when we used to tour a lot we had a Harley Road King that was a good tourer (2 up 2 kids and the dog in the panniers caravan on the back.............)

Could be worse I suppose - good taste forbids me to mention them by name - but they sometimes carry a spare wheel - have a porta loo under the seat and a sandwich box by your knees.

I'd rather have a Massey Ferguson (Harley) or even an Aspencrate!
