Starting and 'backfire'

Post by Dadbob »

Having problems at the moment starting the VTR on a morning. Know it's cold, but not that cold. It 'backfires' too.

Damp maybe? Or something more worrying?

I have this prob too...makes a decidedly loud bang at 6am in the morn if i dont get the start right.

I found the best way is to prod the starter so it turns once or twice.....then pull the choke out half way and press the starter. bingo start no probs and without the backfire. :)
Keep it gutter...Keep it grimey..........one!

same here, no choke at all in summer & only quarter choke in winter, if i give it more choke it wont fire, just pumps loads of gas in then backfires, try playing with choke positions first cos its free :D
