alright there lads .looking too buy a firestorm.last bike was a sv 650 want too keep the v twin thing going lol.looking for some info whats the handeling and fuel consumption like?closest ive got is a seat on one
really like the v twin i know a bloke with a sp1 and he goes through fuel like mad is the storm the same .taking a guess the sp1 is a bit more tuned

To be fair I think most 1000cc bikes are not going to be that good on fuel if ridden hard. You may find some of the more modern litre bikes are better than the Storm, but you will be paying a lot more for that model.
IMO the Firestorm is a lot of bike for the money. Probably not every owner will agree with that, but I bet a lot will

Amazing value right now.
Handling cr*p? Depends how hard you push or scratch I guess. I found the small spacer plate under the rear damper top bracket (well documented on site) helped a huge amount with turn in. Cost if you don't want to make one ? About 4.50 off of eBay!!!!
Like all machines there are a billion mods you can make but don't have to.
I get about 37-38mpg. After an SV650 Minitwin you will find a lot more torque.
As stated, a huge amount of bike for little real outlay so it helps to offset the fuel useage.
I remember getting a GT250 Suzi twostroke down to that figure with only 32hp so it ain't that bad really (back when fuel was 72p per gallon for 2 star)

On the fuel front as Kaz has said 100 miles is normal if you are riding hard and doing most of your riding in town.
I use mine for touring the continent every year and on the motorways at a steady 80 - 90 mph I have squeezed 153 miles on the 16.5 litre tank which is pretty good. Also pretty comfy over long distances too. Furthest I have been in 1 day is just over 500 miles and apart from the usual aches and pains of a 12 hour day in the saddle felt pretty fresh.
It is a great all rounder and if you like Twins you will love one of these. Get an aftermarket can as when I fitted mine it really opened her up.
Handling would be described as adequate. Hardly the razor sharp turn in on a modern 600 but fun nevertheless. I managed to keep up with my brother in his Lotus Elise in the Alps this year which was more than enough for me.
Overall I love my Storm and am looking forward to tackling the ring when we undertake our annual pilgramage to Europe this year.
Go for it, you won;t be dissapointed.

Welcome buddy, think long and hard, the Storm is a great bike, you will either fall for it in a big way or will hate the thing. If your budget allows try an Aprillia RSV/Mille, the Tuono, the Storm and the SP. IMHO the Storm as standard is not up to the handling of an older R6/CBRR so if you have ridden the usual sporty stuff it will feel kinda awkward but..............
1. You can use all the power on the road (within reason)
2. Apart fron CCTs and Reg/rectifier they are v reliable
3. Sound greeeaaaatttt
4. *hitloads of bike for your dollar
5. Lots about so be picky/ do not be afraid of sensible mods
