Spacer, standard shock (sorry if posted before)

Post by grahamvtr100026 »

I take it the spacer works ok with the standard shock?

Had a warning only to do it with an aftermarket shcok in place.

Cheers for any advice

I have a feeling that it has been said in the past that fitting a spacer to the rear shock with the standard Honda suspension can induce tank slappers if you are of a light weight build :!:

My Penske unit has a ride height adjuster built in.

Get one of those.

I know it seems expensive, but is so unbelievably worth it the improvements are bordering on priceless.

Kitch,
My Penske's got a ride height adjuster on it too
But its fugg all use as the only tool I've got that can get to the adjuster nuts when its fitted is a basin wrench.
And I'll be buggered if I'm gonna use that on the lovely alloy.

Graham,
The advice is half right -it actually relates to the FRONT susension
Basically, in standard trim it is so woeful that putting more weight on it with a shock spacer could make it borderline dangerous (especially if you're no lightweight)
Mind you I had a 6mm spacer (track use -4mm for the road) fitted with just oil and springs changed so you dont have to go the whole hog of getting the forks Rogered
I've got an inferiority complex
But its not a very good one!

Oops I got that the wrong way around :!:

Cheers for putting me straight on that Ben. I can see now what you mean (putting more weight on the front by raising the rear etc) by being NO lightweight will only give the front forks extra work to cope with :!:
