But not sold the Storm. Instead, bought what I have always wanted

Now have 2 cars and 2 bikes and live by myself and work from home

Mind you, my old Mondeo has 163,000 on the clock, still going strong and worth a lot to me as a workhorse.

Funny you should say that - took the Storm up and around that way last Sunday. Not much traffic and the exhausts sounded great round Rose Lane and Price of Wales Road!

I bet they did, Prince of Wales road is like a tunnel. I once followed a Peugeot 106 down there with 6, count them!! 6 exhaust pipes out the back, fairly sure 5 werenot connected to anything but i bet it went really fast

I've seen it about. I couldn't stop laughing!

It is a 3.2 V8, not shown on the V5 as a Sport model but it has the sports suspension, 17" Celtic alloys, sports seats and the dark wood cappings. It is absolutely immaculate and mine for Â£5995 with a years unlimited warranty.

Enjoy it before the governments make it near on impossible to own a luxury vehicle. Grrr it steams my clams just thinking about it even though its inevitable that fossil fuels will become scarce, I wont rant as that belongs in another thread. A lovely motor Strats, enjoy the purr.

Chris, to be honest I haven't gone very far in that one. The 4.0l ones I tried were very brisk for such a large car (0-60 6.9 secs) the 3.2 l ones are about 8 secs.

However, they handle incredibly well for such a large beast although there is less feel owing to the very light steering. I bought it as my son lives in Manchester and my daughter is at uni in Stoke, so I wanted something with more comfort for the journies.

Can't help feeling a bit "regal" when driving though, so smooth and easy (electric everything virtually) and seats adjust perfectly too. I think its the sort of car that you drive 400 miles and get out without feeling tired, rather than the Mondeo which was tiring on a long run.

Bit like riding a sports 600 all day compared to a litre V twin - the constant gear changing etc becomes a chore after a while.

Anyway, off to the gym now, but as its only a mile and a half away, its going to be the Mondeo for fuel economy!

Know very little about them now but had an XJ12 5.3l many years ago as an apprentice and it nearly broke me. One of those 'had-to-have' machines. After I sorted it all out with the four carb wise (yes, carbs!) I got it up to a best of 12mpg.

Bet this is better than that!!
Always a lot of motor for the money. Enjoy that lovely luxury car.

I was worrying a bit having run it from cold on two short city trips - 16 mpg!

Then I went on a 40 mile round trip on Sunday and at a steady 60 the trip computer was showing over 30 mpg and the average is now 24.8 mpg.
If I just use it for longer journies I should be able to get that nearer the 28 mpg mark so I'm pretty pleased with that.

Obviously the company you worked for Chris (LSM) as an apprentice were paying you FAR FAR FAR too much in wages

Who on earth has ever heard of an apprentice being able to run an XJ12, let alone afford to insure it

I remember trying to insure a Scimitar many years ago when I was in my early 20's. The car 2nd hand was for sale at Â£300. Best insurance quote I could get was Â£400 for third party fire and theft only

They wouldn't give me a quote for fully comp.
