Fuel costs

Just as a matter of interest how much does fuel cost in your areas.?

Up here.
Last week, heating oil 50p per litre.
Today, diesel 118.9p per litre ffs, it seems to have crep up every 3rd day for the last year.
Today, unleaded 115.7p per litre.
They will be selling it by 500ml measures shortly to confuse us in to thinking we are getting a better deal.

The last ten days I have put £175.00 of diesel in my van for work and I do not do any long haul runs, all short relatively local stuff.
I shudder to think what the haulage industry is going through.

i just got 1000 litres last week at 43.5p up here.... was 35p last year when i filled up the heating tank last.
diesel is 114.9 and unleaded is 109.9ish.

with the strength of the pound against the dollar and the price of barrels of oil in dollars you would think we would be better off, as we produce it ourselves to and must sell it all on somewhere...tax on that...tax on us buying it.

and they have just blown up an oil line in iraq so the barrel price has just jumped back up again...ho hum...cooking oil anyone

Down here I pay for unleaded petrol 104.9 per litre from Asda and I think Tesco's is 107.9 at the minute.

Heating oil was 36p a litre last year, now 46p a litre

I wonder how much more people are prepared to put up with, it's getting ridiculous imo The french wouldn't stand for it

The tax is a piss take and always was but until they start growing loads of biofuel and keep having to invade countries for our convenience thats what we've gotta put up with.

It's not going to get any better in the near future.

its £1.06.9 here i put £15.68 in my vtr seems strange to see the litres and pounds the wrong was round ie 2 litres for £2.12

I only ever use Premium & it's around AUS$1.38 here at present.

If the government got there sh*t together there would already be hydrogen filling stations being built. IMO that is the way fwd.....even dumbass Arnie has worked that out (California has constructed a main artery with Hyd filling stations all along it) funnily enough post that build, Honda has put one of their cars into full production I think it is the Clarity model. Our flaming politicians can see many years of high taxes blamed on oil shortages. Drives me mad.......They dont want clean air they want revenue Clean fuels have to be introduced on their terms to ensure maximum payback. My Citroen C1 (one of the stable ) costs bugger all to run but is bugger all use to a family..... Sorry this subject really steams my clams.

Mike, 120.9 makes me feel better already altho further north west i hear it is 121.9.

Kev, last year we went through 2,000 liters of ch oil. I tried telling the wife to put another jumper on, but you can guess the response I got for that. When we get the holiday let up and running we are planning putting in a woodburner , in place of the 18" open fire that we have linked in to the oil boiler via the neutraliser at the mo.

Sirc, I guess the heating oil prices are much and such up and down the country. There is new company from Ireland, setting up in our area aiming to produce wood pellets from the timber from the large forestery plantations that abound in the north. It may be that the wood pellet burners are the in thing for the future. Only time will tell. As for bio fuels there probably is'nt enough land on the planet to grow what 1 state in America needs in a year.
It's the duty that that we pay on the fuel that pisses me off. It is a bloody joke,I would like to see a balance sheet for the year and on what the revenue is spent on. The mannies in Downing Street have lost the plot. I personally think they can't see how they are bringing the country to its
knees. The french would be blockading the roads and dumping loads of Sh-- in the streets.

its obvious where the money goes. Think tanks on health and safety. Literature and advertising telling you just how dangerous everything you do is.

Oh yeah don't forget it costs a lot of money to renovate a london apartment too!

As for the fuel of the future, PB had a good article on it at the moment.
Cant remember the exact outcome but long term, hydrogen is a non-starter
Think bio-methanol was the best contender but I will check again

I have converted my landrover to run on 100% vegetable oil (except for start up) and i get it from the cash n carry for 78p a litre in 20li drums.

Even the veg oil has had a 18p increase over the last 6mnths.
