What is the official top speed of the storm?

Post by Ernie Cooley »

As a noob to biking, I aint got anywhere near the top end of the bike so don't know where it is likely to top out at. I was wondering what it is capable of?

Any ideas (Without incriminating yourself )

For some strange reason and dont ask me why  but on numerous occasions "A friends throttle has jammed wide open  " I'm sure this is not just a firestorm problem but on very long straights the dial has surprisingly jumped to 160ish mph for no apparent reason 8O 8O But this is just a rumour of course

Even crap riders are fast in a straight line

Hmmnnn........Not sure as the guy in front hit some cow sh1t just before I topped out (aint that right RedStorm    )

I personally reckon that 150mph is poss but I only ever saw about 142mph (indicated). There may be other storms on here that can smash that but why would you want to other than at Cadwell or similar 8O

Who me????? Oh Yeah, on that old air strip

Don't ask me matey, I wasn't hugging the tank, nor too near the red line judging by the sound of the engine, so assume more would be available and I certainly wasn't looking at the speedo / Rev counter, especially when I saw the cow poop!

Pretty sure I closed my eyes at that point and concentrated on not messing my boxers

Pretty sure we (or I at least) was going faster a bit earlier on the same stretch of runway - but was having way too much fun listening to the engine and watching the black top go passed to care.

 Thinks "Tom Cruise, racing F-14 on Kwak"

Why the hell they let cows wander about on private airfields I'll never know, even if they are disused

Only thing Ive been quicker on was a Fireblade

All under legal circumstances of course (private roads/race tracks etc)...

only saw mid 140's on my storm on a very long road, and it felt uncomfortable ( john's old one)..tl used to rocket round to 170-180 indictaed, was loads smoother and comfy at speed, far quicker and easier to get to speed( too easy)...storms feel best at 100 /120or so..but thats mho

Saw 170 *indicated* at the nurburgring on my silver VTR, which was down on power. Twas in fifth, as it wouldn't pull sixth at that speed. I was so fixated on the speedo I forgot to pull into the pits to pay for another lap and got a bollocking off the marshalls.

What with the storm's 8% speedo inaccuracy and the 15 tooth sprocket on it that equates to about 149mph. I've had more out of my unfaired 250cc smaller Zed!

Take those indicated speeds with a heavy pinch of salt :wink2
