Your advise On This Please.

My tyres are dunlop sportmax , the rear requires renewing ( well now actually). At mo carnt afford 2 new tyres so was wondering if I could just repalce the rear with another make to tide me over until affording 2 new ones the same.
Looked at the price of dunlops and there quite dear.
The front is still perfect.

better changing it for whats already in if your planing to keep the front, most people would get two rears to a front life wise, the different tires may have slightly different profiles that could upset the handling of the bike.

then change as a pair next time round.

just my opinion but i'd check about the profiles before buying anything else.

If you have a good tyre place near by have a word with them to see whatâ€™s compatible with the front

like kevg said Some combinations can have strange effects on your handling

I have a Dunlop Sportmax for sale with about 4mm of tread on it, unfortunately it comes with a rear wheel with bearings and seals, I can't be bothered to pay to get the tyre taken off the rim but if you want the lot I will do it all for Â£70 including postage and you can flog the wheel on ebay if you don't want it

Kev and Warby are quite right but if it's only untill your next pay check I'd put what ever you are happy with on...just don't go mad.
I've mixed tyres loads of times and not had a problem cause one had gone before the other and I didn't have the money (or just too tight) to get them both changed. Only time I came unstuck (literally) was when I picked up a super sticky rear and had a crappy half worn Avon road runner on the front. I was straight on my ass trying to put the pegs down on a roudabout showing off in front of a bunch of kids

So once, in 25 odd years of riding aint too bad in my books

found a tyre on the web. any body used or know about these people
would sooner repace the rear to match the front for now .

There advertsising the tyre I need for about 77 quid delivered, would like to know what this company is like if any one has used them

Dunlop D208 fully fitted and balanced for 85.40 at Dynamec in Holt heath just up road from me .

just had a special offer leaflet from M&P or busters. They have diablo's for Â£100 a pair.

I got some pilot sports in spring and what with the "lovely" weather were having I really appreciate the lovely grip they give. So get new ones if you can stretch to that.

I used to buy second hand racing metzelers and their great on hot days and fast riding but the pilot sports are so much more sensible and confidence inspiring on the short run to work.

Martin i have dunlop 208rr on back and michelin pilot power on the front and have no probs at all but they are both soft compound sport tyres so give the same grip i suppose.
