What is the official top speed of the storm?
Give me a chance to get to my private max speed test road and I'll let you know the indicated top speed.
The table so far:
Hornet 600= indicated 150
Aprilia RSV = indicated 172(takes the reading from the rear disk directly so is much more accurate than japanese speedo's)
33bhp GSXR400 = indicated 120

I was under the impression it was about 162 mph but I'm not certain. I remember looking it up when I was buying my Storm and finding out it was a tad slower than my old RF900 (165 officially) but not enough difference to enter the equation.

Not convinced Pete. The Blade is booked at 160mph and I have ridden good examples of both, Red Zipper should be able to agree with me. My old Storm went extremely well but it would have to be geared correctly then ridden down the side of Ben Nevis to achieve a genuine 160mph in my opinion, whereas the Blade would do 160mph (indicated) on the way to workPete.L wrote:Should have looked a bit further and read the verdict Big H

No seriously I think the only way we'd get a true answer is to have a private bit of road (M4 maybe??) and half a dozen storms with GPS attached. I don't believe much of what most bike mags report these days and in some cases it's quite obvious they are just reporting secondhand information.

To be honest how often do you tuck down behind the fairing and nail it until it tops out
Some bikes I would say are quite easy to max out the BMW 1200GS tops out at 132 as it is bouncing off the limiter in top ! but it took a relatively short private road to achieve that
. The Bandit could be maxxed out quite easily as well but the Storms top gear is very high (as standard) that it is v tricky to top out.

Travelling at 170MPH you are covering 255 ft/ sec assuming it takes 1 sec to change focus from the road to the speedo and back again thats scary 255 feet at 170 MPH not looking where you are going. For £69.99 you can buy a Novus Rider speed camera alert system that not only tells where he camera's are but also gives an accurate (GPS) speed and when you get home will tell you the maximum (true) speed you attained plus a lot of other useless info. It's no good getting the GSX14 to do it because the firestorm makes it look super slow.
