I've got a Standard one you might want , off a 98 model

Replaced at less than 8,000 miles , bit grubby at the moment but I'm sure it will clean up

Pity you didn't post last week , we could've met up at Rams/Forest match

old scrote - at what mileage did your shock fail an mot?!

eggshellblonde - why did you replace yours at 8000 miles - choice or necessity?

I've read the OE shocks aren't great, and will happily change mine when the need arises, but I'm at 22,500 miles now and mine feels okay. I've only done 1500 miles since I bought the bike 6 weeks ago, so maybe my "fine" would be someone else's "shite"?

Changed by choice ( to a Techno-Flex by K-Tech ) as I'm planning on a couple of trackdays this year
I've got to work out how to get it set up right now

I have heard good reports about Revs Racing in Halesowen (near Birmingham). They will recondition a VFR shock for around £150, I can't see why a VTR shock would be any more.

John Gaskell is the man to speak to on 0121 501 3321. They are at Unit 1, 22 Mount Street, Halesowen. W. Mids. B63 4NU

IMO the biggest problem with the VTR is that the shock is way too hard. I'm 13 stone, and even on the softest setting the bike hardly moves when I sit on it, and it kicks my butt off the seat over fairly small bumps, like expansion joints in motorway bridges. I can see a replacement being bought fairly soon (don't tell the wife though).

I found the OEM Storm suspension to be crap right out of the box. If you push the bike, you will want to replace both front and rear IMHO.

The bikes done just over 20k and not being an experienced rider I didn't bloody notice the rear suspension was shot, It would be nice to have a go on a bike with set up suspension to have a comparison, this is the problem with being one of these 'born again' bikers I take my brain out and regress to an 18 year old with a twitchy wrist, but what the hell 'eh' I love it!
