Question: How thick is the RHS engine casing?
Question: How thick is the RHS engine casing?
Maybe a daft question, but I slid my track bike (Firestorm - obviously) down the track and ground down the RHS (as you sit on the bike) engine cover, where you put the oil in.
How thick is this metal? If I slide again, is it likely to go through? I guess I can replace it with a second hand one (if I can get one - none on ebay at moment) ?
Otherwise is there an engine casing cover for this model?
Thanks

Thickness varies depending on were your looking thinnest bit is probably 3mm thk
But I don’t think its a stressed part of the engine and only makes a cover to stop the oil flooding out so as long as its not leaking then its probably going to stay that way and be usable
As for the engine covers there have been a few after them and have posted but I don’t think any 1’s found any were yet that still do them

got some coming.... LHS & RHS. Total = £60 delivered!yorkylancs wrote:Look alright John dont they?let me know if you get any,and what quality they are.I know they are cheaper than the Rhencullen ones used to be.But theres were made of a hybrid carbon/kevlar weave, and a much heavier cloth, shame they arent still about.S,pose for £35 its worth a punt.

Will let you know what they are like when they arrive.
Also how does one attatch them? Carbonadi blokey says silcone glue... is that right? If so, how do you get them off if you want to?

Good show John, hope they are alright £60 i might be tempted.I reckon you just chuck a load of silicone at it and hope it sticks, should still come off ok,only thing i thought was the timing inspection holes are covered on the left cover, might be a problem, but at least only every 16,000miles.Give us your verdict on them when you can.Cheers.

Super! I couldn't find some when I searched but I'll look now. Please let us know your opininon on them.
