Although I've grown quite attached to my elbows over the Years, it was nice to see more than just them in the mirrors on the way home. I've even bought the bike in to work today
But, I shall be on it at the weekend with rags and toothbrushes to get the last of the dirt off.
I'll also start tackling those jobs
Yes, I did admit that Red was the best colour, and Frank was clearly within hearing distance
In this day and age of Gatsos and VASCARS and fecknowswhatelsecars it's definitely better to have a slow Red one. Not sure I could give up the performance by spraying mine though
You can go off people you know.

I got my comeuppence when I got home today though, heard a loud fizzing noise when I was putting the bike away and assumed it was the rain sizzling on the exhausts. But, no, it was the sound of air rushing out of the large hole in the rear tyre. Damn that awesome tyre splitting Silver power
Still, it's given me an excuse to buy one of those ABBA stands, probably won't take long to pay for itself
Could prove to be a very expensive Month if the tyres prove to be old ones though or it can't be repaired!

my buddy super mac
another forum member i can't speak highly enough of. apart from the fact that he's deluded about red bikes being the fastest/best....
he's more than willing to meet you in a quiet car park to conclude a business transaction
if it wasn't for mac and the loan of his spare battery/indicators i wouldn't of been able to get my bike mot'd in time for the workshop day.
a big thankyou dude...
i'll be getting those bits to you when i get back to blighty mate.

Basically take the shifter off the gear shaft and move round one or two splines put it back, your aiming to have the shifter part at 90* to the shift rod.
Makes N to 1st less clunky, but so does getting new rose joints in the linkage but that costs, this mod is free
That probably doesn't make much sense but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to explain it better or try searching for it in workshop, think this originally came from Mik in Canada via Superhawk forum.

My interpretation of the shifter mod was to move it away from 90degrees to make it LESS efficient, but more importantly, shorter travel.
When I first get my bikes I always set the linkages to 90deg, but having read the SuperHawk thread I moved it one spline away from optimum and they are right, it is less lever movement to get the gear change, and it works well for me!

Well there you go I stand, well sit actually, corrected.
Thanks AMCQ.

I like the sound of this mod. I will have to have a play with my one, as my gear change from 1 to 2 is a bit clunky. From what you both say makes sense. Iv'e not had a close look at the linkage yet! has the spline got an indentation mark for correct alignment. And which way does it need to move a couple of notches, clockwise or anti?
Ride safe

Carl, it won't improve the1st to 2nd clunk thats just the gearbox. and it will take a bit more force to change gear, so there is a trade off to get a shorter pedal movement.
As to which direction to go, it doesn't matter!, just depends on where you like the lever to sit and if there is more adjustment in the rod to lengthen or shorten it back to the correct position.

Here's a best of both worlds suggestion, set the lever to 90 degrees at rest, but then fit a shorter lever.
It will be more positive, but should also feel slicker, and easier to operate, less force needed.
Used to use nice short 500/4 levers on all sorts of bikes way back, as they were quite short.
Ideally get to a breaker and see what they have in the levers box.
Almost all Honda splines are the same.

Good thinking tony, But I've got big feet, so a short pedal won't work for me, or do you meant the link from the gearbox spline to be shorter?
But by my thinking the laws of mechanical levers works out that the relationship between force and travel will make the result the same no mater if you do it by short lever or moving the spline round away from 90deg....
