That's actually not to bad considering the amount of missing detail (darkness) in the original.

Yeah, I know. Not a bad recovery job, especially from a jpeg... I've got a 12mp 12bit Nikon RAW file I can play with but I was actually after the dark and mysterious look. That's actually a 30 second exposure in the dark of the garage with a bit of light painting from the LED flash/torch of my mobile phone!

good job you used a tripod then. The D300 is a very nice camera. So did you alter the raw file in Lightroom or just a default raw process You can get some very nice led video camera lights now. Alter the brightness with dimmer from o to 8500kelvin useful for stills as well.

That'll teach me to leave the exif intact! lol!
I fiddled with the white balance in LR, I had shot it on Auto, and the camera had got close, but it was a little green. Touch of vignette. That was about it. I did fiddle with pretty much every setting at one point, but always ended up back where I started as I preferred the original.

I haven't seen those video camera lights, they sound interesting. The only problem with white LEDs is their colour spectrum can be very patchy. Sure they look white, but they have huge gaps in their frequencies.

That's kind of the look I was after. Prepare for more arty-farty baldrocks from me in the future - Well as soon as I work out how to carry the tripod on the bike! (I shall succeed, I used to carry my pool queue on my old cbr6!).
