Late to the party.. but if the hand carved insulator from cutting board does not work out (brilliant idea BTW)

It reminds me of the sort of thing one may find in a DIY flat pack. A plastic thing that slides inside a cut out in the timber with a thread on for a bolt to go through or a plastic right angled corner mount....cut one side off and shape it to fit. Or one of those long square shaped corner mounts. Cut a slice of one of them. These are the sort of things one would find laying around in the man draw of odd bits collected from over the years LOL

Funny how making a joke about making one out of wood has turned into a serious option. Now which wood will withstand heat more. A bit of Ash or Birch maybe. :think:
