YEAH!! I never do things by half measure.

It will have to wait for a while though, as I am heading off to England next week for a 5 week holiday. I was hoping it would be all fixed before I left. but alas, not to be.

Mine is exactly the same...metal spacer pushed through from the inside, rubber gromet through the panel, and bolted from the outside. Looks identical to yours.

it is normal to have over 1mm of axial slack under the tophat spacer
