Re: engine parts
not cranking it over any more. If the CCT came loose when running the valve timing should have stayed in sink even though it would sound nasty. when it was turned off the timing jumps and the valve with bend the next time it is cranked over.
If you have not cranked over since shut down you may have got away with it. if you have cranked it , usually the exhaust valves bend.
if the cam chain broke for some reason whilst running the damage will be worse but i have not seen one that has needed a head or piston or bent the rod

Re: engine parts
could the wire be from the old cct
has it been chewed a bit by the engine ,could that have made the noise

told you not to but oh no you knew better
Re: engine parts
the wire did look like a cct spring wire but this only happens after the engine had been running with the manuals in it? im handing it over to a man who knows a lot more about diesels than i do before i get it even more trouble.
iv not turned it over since i shut it down other than one complete turn by hand and it seems to have one tight spot so im leaving well alone

Front or rear cam cover or both?fabiostar wrote:AMCQ46 wrote:PS sorry for lack of sympathy.......I feel your pain for the dead bike and the extra work.
do you know what happened yet? did they rattle loose and back out?
lol its ok im beating myself with a hammer as we speak..
pulled the cam cover of.. checked the chain tension and its still fine. but something aint right inside unless these engines are meant to sound like a washing machine.. tho one very strange thing, sitting stuck to the side of the chain tunnel was a bit of thin wire about an inch long? wire as in piano type wire???
god knows il not look any further because i can see anything broke.

Re: engine parts
Mate I am really sorry to hear that.
Makes me worry about mine as I haven't started bike up since they were done. I'm sure with the help of the guys on here you will sort it even if I means a new engine!
Good luck mate

Re: engine parts
Sorry to hear of your troubles. I am slightly worried about mine as I have had some self induced issues, but the bike runs and ticks over well, however I have yet to try it on the road.
Best of luck with it all

Re: engine parts
I can rebuild that head for you, assuming it's not totally smashed a hole in the piston it'll be ok.
Otherwise, I still have a pair of heads fitted with oversize inlet valves, if you fancy something a bit special....

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
