seb, when you getting rid of the rocket launcher of a standard end can......

i love the look of the standard one mate, honestly it looks a lot better in person than it does in the pics, strange but true...

and at low revs its nice and discreet until you open the tap


if i got somthing else i think it would be a RACEFIT one but i would want to if possible get another standard can, cut off the bottom of the link that has the butterfly valve, cut that section out the racefit pipe and weld that section onto the racefit one

not sure if its been done of if it could be done? but my aim would be to have a stealthy Race can at plodding speeds and part throttle when the butterfly isn't opening much and then have it screaming when the ECU opens it up i need something thats still quiet for 3am at home

an inline 4 with a race can sounds harsh and more offensive to the ear than the thump of a twin in the early hours

i live at the bottom of rivington and hear bikes all day long on Saturday and Sunday the twins sound amazing on song even from a mile away but the inline four on race cans you can here them for a few miles in the revs with where i live as its in a bowl the area if you will and they sound like angry wasps

my mates k9 thou has a racefit growler, the thing screams, soooo loud, it sounds wicked and weighs so much less, can't use it at any uk trackdays or the ring. he's ended up buying a secondhand beowolf for those occasions....

i do feel that bit more vulnerable on the gixxer as its that much quieter when passing traffic as i knew with the Yoshi's they could feel me coming if they couldn't see me and somehow couldn't hear me either

Looks good Gaz. The number boards really make a big improvement, breaks up the Yellow. Seriously I mean, I'm not being coulurist. I like the Black like as well.

Gave mine a decent clean and then had to use paint renovator on the tank where my legs are rubbing the paint then gave it a going over with this armor sheild stuff

I think that Armour all is designed for wheels. You should seriously consider some Ceramic shield or similar Nano coating for the bodywork. I see you got some nice pics. I thought you was going to send me some to cut the backgrounds out.

I was out on mine again yesterday. Was going for a gentle ride and testing out some roads of the Leicestershire run next year. Some cracking roads I stumbled across. Funny how you can live in one area so long and never go down some road even though you have ridden past them loads of times before

Headed down towards Foxton Locks for an ice-cream and nearly got wiped out by an old Triumph Herald I think it was. I went to over take him, much like Al did the 4x4, indicator on, moved out to the middle of the road and started to come past this car and when I was right at the side of him he decided to pull out to over take some cyclists. No indicators or anything, I didn't even see him move his head to use his mirror. Pushed me right to the far edge of the wrong side of the road and nearly down the grass

Then I had another one about 10miles from home when a Ford Galaxy just slammed its brakes on because he had no idea where he was going and nearly missed his turning. Lucky my brakes down work. Think I must have been 4inch off his bumper

I don't think I have ever had to squeeze my brakes that hard. At least now with the new fork springs I can actually feel what is happening at the front so I wasn't worried about the front buckling under the braking. Least they worked. Would have made a mess otherwise.

I've gotta get a mini fog horn first, just in case the fools aren't paying attention and don't hear/see that. Because car drivers are renowned for their road awareness...

Carry some easily accessible ball bearings to lob at their doors when they do it, it don't half make a bang and gives them something to think about!

Changed the cam chain tensioner on the fazer for a s/h but known good one, and it didnt make any difference, so cam chain it is then, Bugger! Not a job I am relishing, shall probably put in a soft link.

Put some nice shiny de-baffled end cans on the VTR and fitted some new discs, now have a rideable bike which sounds nice. Still got slightly bent forks, but new ones are on the way, the brakes are not juddering anymore though so I can at least go for a gentle spin. Might pootle into town tonight as I am going for a curry with mates. it does sound rather fruity, but not offensive. Just right as I do early starts and might take it to work sometimes.

Thanks MacV2 and Alexmac for the bits. Got forks on the way from Carmanbikes so the forum has done me proud!

you should be able to adjust the tension with a manual one to the desired spec,
an auto one will do this automatically but I wouldn't use an auto one unless you have measured the length and fitted a correctly measured stopper to them

That;s on the fazer Seb not the VTR. But I agree that the chain should not need changing unless the bike has severely high mileage.

Matty are you sure it's the tensioner and not valve clearances that need doing.

Yup, I have done 4000 miles in the last 4 months commuting and it has got about 48k miles on it. It doesnt have a multi layered cam chain like a VTR it has a sh1t single plate side wall drive chain like a bicycle chain. Rattling away like a good un!

Thought it was on the way but worth trying a tensioner first.
