Weird...my VTR (both of em) never wanted to start up after being layed up for a while. Even when I started taking the battery off in winter (cold kills batteries) they were still reluctant. My silver one used to run on 1 cyl for the first 30 seconds after it hadn't been run for a while. There wasn't anything up with it per se but it was just reluctant.

Me kwakker on the other hand, parked it up last september, took battery off and stashed it indoors all winter. Fitted the battery again at the start of April and it fired up within a second of pressing the button. Mint :)

My husaberg was worst for starting. It was an absolute b8stard regardless of whether it had been a day or a month since it was run last!

i had a 1977 rd250 with the loud micron expansion chambers(louder than any modern race can) every morning the bike would only start on the right cylinder with the left trying to go,i had to hold the revs at about 5k rpm which was not quite in any means,i used to do this every morning at about 715am and it would take nearly a minuite before the bike would run on both cylinders (yamahas fault for only fitting one choke ) then i would hit the power band in every gear inc top (no speed cameras back in the early 80s) now that was fun, never got stopped for noise

Ha, I had a raleigh chopper in 77.

Seeing as we're reminiscing, I had a RD250lc in 92. Throttle cable broke one day 10 miles from home. Turned the idle up to 5000 and rode it home like that. Lc gearboxes make a hell of a bang when you put them in first at 5 thou
