'Tiny' a dear friend RIP

Post by RedStormV »

Hi,

Doubt many people on here will know him, apart from maybe Bob and a few others who've frequented Squires (old and new),the Sun Inn and Rivvi over the years. (Mate of Heath, his brother and little Jeff - Bob)

Tiny (Malcolm Broadbent) (Green TRX & Blue Fazer 1000) was involved in an accident on 25th Nov, heading towards Summer Bridge from Pateley Bridge.
3 youths in an oncoming small car (Corsa?) pulled over to the RH side of the road as if to stop and then without warning proceeded to do a U-Turn!

Fazer written off, Tiny hospitalised in Harrogate with 3 broken fingers, humerus broken in 3 places lacerated left hand and a fractured pelvis.

Went to see him on Sunday night just gone, when although he was fed up, he was looking forward to being transferred nearer home, and talking about what bike to get when the insurance paid out!

Got a call Monday evening to say he'd passed away!!!!!!!!

I just can't get my head round it, to say I'm gutted would be an understatement! - they were doing some physio with him and he just collapsed and although they tried to revive him, they were unable to!

He only 49 and was doing so well was going to be sent home in a few days rather than being transferred to nearer hospital!!!

He was a very dear friend to me and to everyone who knew him and that's a hell of a lot of people!

God knows how many bike clubs he'd either been a member of or associated with over the years but certainly most around Bradford & Halifax

He was the kind of biker many of us could only aspire to be - rode in all weathers 365 days a year, never even owned a car! Looked after newbies on runs and would usually take on the role of Tail End Charlie to pick up the stragglers.

A 'Gentle Giant' (well in excess of 6' and just short of 30 Stone) He lived for his bike and would take no persuading at all to take a run out for the day or go on a tour of anywhere in Europe.

So long old friend - Mandy and I will both miss you like crazy!

What a tragic loss. I knew nothing of the man but he was only a year older than me. You have painted a picture or someone who could have been one of my biker crowd. Dreadful that such a stupid incident as this leads to a fatal conclusion.
Thank you for taking the time to write this RS.V

How sad Graeme. Even more of a shock for all involved knowing he was doing so well and was due to be sent home in a few days :!:

He sounds (from your post) to have been a lovely guy. A real sad loss :!:

My condolences to all family and friends. R.I.P.

Chris.

Not knowing the exact circumstances it’s hard to comment but trying to take an impartial stance as possible it seem to me at the very least if his inexperience had coursed the accident a return to being a learner driver and him having to take the extended test and extra tuition would have been a absolute minimum sentence
Not only for what he had done but also for the good of others around him :(

The sentence he got just dose not cover the misery and distress he has caused and sends the wrong message to others about the seriousness of his actions :x
When I was learning to drive I was always told that driving was a privilege and not a right
