How can people inflict such pain on a small child?

b8stard. I think they should be released; after their pictures, names and addresses have been published widely.

A bullet is too good for them, so is hanging.

A few weeks of both physical and mental torture exacted by professionals in the field, then a slow, painful and lingering death, followed by chopping what's left of them up and scattering the bits in the oceans for the fish to eat.

Leave no marker and no memorial.

Every social worker that touched the case and missed or chose to ignore the signs should also suffer a similar fate!

Enquiries, re-vamping, recommendations do nothing, the fact that this has happened again proves that.

At the very least and I mean VERY least, the social workers and department heads concerned should also be charged and jailed as they knowingly, recklessly or negligently contributed to his continued abuse and ultimate death.

I wasn't going to comment..... but WTF I'm angry

Social Workers do an incredibly difficult job for not much reward. To hold them personally accountable would only mean that there would be even fewer choosing that career.

Either they were naive, poorly trained or incompetent, or a combination of all three. They were certainly let down by the "system"

Drugs play a major part in all these things I think. Thankfully neither of mine have been "attracted" by them (save for a couple of experimental spliffs a few years ago)

Oh well, time for the eggs and bacon. Those girls haven't arrived yet Timbo! I think you lied to me

I find it all a bit difficult.

I accept its a terrible tragedy and that it should have been prevented.

The problem I have is with the outpouring of sentiment and wringing of hands along with pitchfork waving thats going on surrounding this case.

What's so different with this case than with the dozens of others there were last week that you didn't hear about? (believe me, this case isn't unique.)

Or the hundreds of babies around the country and countless more around the world that are abused as badly or worse?

I have had a few hundred Facebook groups, emails, newspapers and random people in the street spamming me for Justice For Baby P and not a single one from Justice For Babies X, Y & Z.

Not a single group of Support The NSPCC & UNICEF & Save The Children.

And definitely not a group of Support Social Workers (Who Are Actually Good At Their Job And Aren't All Like These Shitbags And Do An Incredibly Difficult Role)

80 children under 5 are killed in similar circumstances every year. Three quarters of those by their parents. That's 3 every 2 weeks. Every year. For the last 28 years they've been counting.

If we're going to hang people over this, what about the other hundred or so since August 2007? Shall we have a longer line at the gallows?

Enough of the outrage and faux sentiment. And certainley enough of the Kill The Bitch/b8stard/Mother/Social Workers/That council woman we can't remember.

So many people are standing on rooftops or online communities around the world proclaiming they despise the evils of this case. But what did they do last month? Or last year? Or how come the NSPCC's fundraising has been declining for years (down a further 3.5% for 2008, doesn't seem like much but thats 5 million quid.) Where are all the shouty people now?

Well said Kitch

I found it hard to read about the things that happened to Baby P, I am verging on crying when I think about the horrific life that the little blighter led, and never even had a chance at living.

The saddest thing of all is that it's by no means an isolated incident as Kitch has said. We can't even comprehend the suffering that these little innocent souls go through, and that makes me feel sick. I have to admit that stuff like this affects me infinitely more since my own daughter was born less than a year ago. To think that someone could hurt a tiny defenceless baby is such an alien concept I just cannot accept it.

Eye-for-an-eye.

I ahve to quote the great Mahatma Gandhi on that one

"an eye for an eye only makes the whole world blind"

The NSPCC are one of my regularly supported charities BTW

Couldn’t have put it better there’s a lot of stuff that’s easy to see with hindsight

Kitch, you are right, why don't people stop trying to blame someone other than the f***** c**** who did this.

100% right Kitch  I am guilty of not giving a toss  Its plainly obvious that two smackheads with serious habits cant look after a baby properly but I bet they are still allowed to walk home from the hospital with a new baby. The so called do gooders may have failed to address some of the many problems but they are doing 100% more good than I, so I cant throw stones.
I struggle with just being a dad to my two young boys without shouting from the roof tops.
Just my point of view.

im sure this will cause a stir, but sadly in reality its for the best...

there should be some sort of aptitude test, if you fail it you are NOT allowed to be a parent.....
chop their bits off stop them bringing more of the same kind into this world..

in the wild or any animal kingdom if they give birth to a defected off spring its left to die or killed. nature doing its work..
to ensure that the future generations are stong and healthy and bring good to that animals name.

views are a little bit hitlerish maybe so,,, but there are to many idiots in this world that have to many rights...

use em all as wombles land fill.... gasing them or killing them is a waste of tax payers money.. land fill is a cheap and easy option and helps out the building trade :D

Now hang on a minute.

If this had been a child who died as a result of an accident while out on a field trip etc, then the organisers, teachers, education department would be held accountable.

In a business there's such a thing as corporate manslaughter, where overlookers, managers, directors etc can also be held accountable for someones death while at work, or even a member of the public as a result of action or the lack of it taken by employees!

So why not then make the social workers, and anyone else who failed to take action to stop this atrocity accountable? And, as Kitch has referred to the other similar cases going on everyday!

I'm not saying their job isn't hard or that they get paid more than they deserve, far from it, they, like nurses, should probably be paid a lot more than they do for the sh1t they have to put up with. At the end of the day though, it is their chosen profession, like it or not.

If they don't do their job properly, if they aren't as observant as they should be, bloody hell who could miss those injuries! If they chose to turn a blind eye, take an 'easier' case, misfile a report etc etc etc, then they should be held accountable them and their superiors for allowing it to happen.

knowingly, recklessly or negligently contributed to his continued abuse and ultimate death.

Look them up in a dictionary.

They'll stand up in a court of law - think it's referred to as culpability.

what your saying is 100% correct, but been a social worker aint a barrel of laughs..

i have close friends who do such job an the stories i hear are mind blowing.... and i mean that in a NO wombles WAY kinda mind blowing..
they have got to have one of the hardest jobs in the world. the sh1t they have to face every day the things they have to do for the good of a child..

and we only have what the news / press are giving us as information.
i know we are all allowed our own opinions on a subject but i never pass judgement on any thing i hear in the news or read in the paper....
since my mother appeared in a major news paper over something that they claimed was more than the truth...

agreed if the truth be that the social workers ACTUALLY knew about what was going on and turned a blind eye or did nothing about it then yes they are as much to blame.. but unless they were also smack heads i find that very hard to believe.

if some one is a social worker they do it for a reason..... cause they want to make a difference..... its not like some muppet on the dole who has been told they have to work and they just do social working to keep the officials off their back....

As for the press I agree 100% having also been party to their spin.

I suggest that this thread be locked by admins or removed altogether as it is a very emotive and sensitive subject to many members for various reasons.

I don't think any good will come of progressing this any further.

I certainly don't intend to pass further comment.

i haven't said anything and am not going to but i think its for the very reasons that have just been stated that the thread would have to remain, it is a terrible subject to talk about and it raises more questions than answers, some if not most of the people involved in all the other cases nationwide care about the outcome and we can only hope that it shakes up the system and it doesn't happen again. mistakes were made and no amount of finger pointing will solve them, they can only learn, put measures in place and try to stop a tragedy like it happening again.

thats the good thing about a forum like this we all come from a broad spectrum of society, different backgrounds and experiences, if we can all talk about things like this and not loose the heed then it can help everyone.
