"opening" the headlight

Post by zixxer »

hello lads, just wondering if any of you have ever tried doing the above?

i got myself a set of those fancy angel eyes and it requires opening the lamp to install them.

any help or suggestions appreciated lads, thanks, Darren.

Hiya Darren

It's quite easy to open the headlight remove the light from the bike and take out the bulb. It's also a good idea to take off anything that is rubber too. Then switch on your oven and let it get to temperature (i set mine at 200). Once the oven is hot put the whole light in and shut the door. Leave it in for about 2mins but keep an eye on it. After this time take out the light(be careful as it will be very hot). Then with a medium size flat screwdriver prize the lense from the back panel. If the light is hot enough it should prize apart quite easy if not put it back in the oven for another few seconds. Once the light starts to split you will see the glue going all stringy at this point use a sharp stanley to cut though it. To refit reverse the above and put some clamps on the light till cool. :D

If you do put the light in the ovan make sure you put it on a towel if resting on metal bars else it could melt into.
