Good cold callers dont come along too often. Nice one Timbo.

I don't know how I missed that introduction Tim, although thinking about I did have more serious things going on in my life at that time
I wonder how successful they've been, as they estimated we did have 2 million uninsured drivers on our roads.
If as much effort was put into catching uninsured drivers as they put into catching speeding vehicles, then by now they should have caught most of them

I'd take that figure with a pinch of Daily Mail salt quite honestly, it would be a huge percentage.I wonder how successful they've been, as they estimated we did have 2 million uninsured drivers on our roads.
There are far too many though, and if they haven't insurance they haven't bothered about a licence or MOT either. At least they get their cars crushed now.
Fed up with subsidising criminals, whether they are chav scroats or ex top bankers!

The 2 million uninsured drivers is a conservative estimate from the DOT
That’s 1 in 20 drivers some have put the number as high as 1 in 5 drivers
The 1 in 20 is for people that have no insurance at all and dose not cover all the drivers and riders for that matter that have not declared point’s, ban’s, accidents, modifications and them that are using a postal address that they don’t live at for cheaper quotes and so on. All of which can nullified your insurance in the event of an accident
Personally I would estimate 8 million as being nearer the mark
The average fine for no insurance is around £190 so a lot decide it cheaper to just take the chance than to get insurance and points don’t work as they don’t care if there not legal so they don’t have a license next time so what. For any one caught more than one I would give them 2 to 3 years inside minimum at least there of the streets.
To cover the arseholes it costs every one else about £30 on yer premium every year.
I absolutely hate uninsured drivers because if they injury some one badly/do a lot of expensive damage it’s the other poor sod who involved that ends up footing the bill some times for life.

its big----- its red ------its throbbing and it’s a thousand CC
Re: Close Call today
Instead of this obsession with "speed kills" and trying to find ways to control cars and bikes via satellite, surely it isn't too difficult to develop technology to incorporate insurance/tax details into a key fob/swipe card etc which means that the vehicle won't start if things aren't in order? Ditto built in breathalyser immobilser.
Wired in to all vehicles with anti tamper technology, there would be a cost implication but it must be less than the cost of the damage these people do etc?
