So I am standing next to a pedestrian crossing watching the world go by here in
Rio. There is a street kid who is doing tricks for the traffic when the red
light comes on. He has a cardboard tube say about 2 feet long and about a foot
in diameter which he flicks up and catches and such things in a very similar
style to football keepy ups. Soooooo
He flicks it up and catches in such a way that it goes over his head - he then
proceeds to let it go past his shoulders and is obviously going to let it go all
the way down, and it may well have done if he had put his arms above his head,
however they were by his side so it gets to his waist where it sticks, he then
tries to wriggle free and falls over. So he is now stuck inside a cardboard tube
lying on a pedestrian crossing and trying to move like a caterpillar to the side
of the road - and then the lights change, now not even in Brasil will they
actually drive over him so the start banging their horns instead - the poor lad
can't do anything so eventually a taxi driver at the front of the queue of
traffic gets out and lifts him up, decides he is too heavy, puts him down and
instead uses his foot and rolls him inside his cardboard tube into the gutter in
front of the helpless Scotsman with tears rolling down his face. he then gets
back in his car and drives off leaving the lad in the gutter still inside his
cardboard tube, where he stays for the next couple of minutes until some of his
street friends come along and after some discussion go and borrow a pair of
scissors and cut him out.
I never laugh at peoples poverty but FFS sake that was one of the funniest
things I ever saw
