Re: gloves
I use Oxford handlebar mitts plus those two finger mitts. The Oxfords keep of the wind and rain and make more difference that you can imagine.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.
Re: gloves
this is conjuction with hot grips,
i use my alpine star summer gloves and these CLICK ME over the top..
did several trips over the winter months 300miles in awful condidtions and not a drop of rain gets through and warm n toasty to boot.
even tested them in a bowl of water..

Re: gloves
I've got some Alpinestars Jet 2 gloves. They are extremely warm, very comfortable and haven’t ever leaked a drop-ever. They're not so thick that you can't feel the controls easily though-this was a very important factor to me as I have cerebral palsy in my left hand. And the carbon knuckle protection is a bonus. Most winter have zero protection built in.
Only problem is the price-if you're wanting cheap look elsewhere. They cost me £59.00 from the NEC 5 or 6 years ago.
The new version is even dearer-I've seen them at nearly £90.00 in some shops

Re: gloves
best waterproof gloves i have found that feel like a summer race glove and keep 110% of water out is the cheapest brand you'll find.

Re: gloves
I might try the tesco bag gloves
I need a new pair of gloves and cant find any too fit
Might get a pair of welding gloves... £3.50 for a nice comfy pair, and a velcro strap...
Then all I need is a pair of over gloves for when it rains
Can anyone else remember the article in one of the bike mags a few months ago (possibly last year :S)...
They showed that welding gloves are stronger than even some expensive bike gloves!

Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: gloves
they are fantastic as you can put em under your seat as they roll up small.
they are wind proof, as what little seams they have are sealed so nothing gets in..
an like i said i have held my hands in a bowl of water for a length of time and they didnt let a bead in..
only complaint i have about them is also a plus point.. the velcro is VERY strong and a pig to get them off. but they do create a tight seal around your arm..

oh and as timbo points out you do look n feel a tit in them...but when its middle of winter, in the rain when its so cold the moister around you is freezing, and your reaching the body temperature where singing songs to your self through chattering teeth is all you can do to keep your sanity you can rest at ease knowing that your hands are dry n warm!zoidberg, Leela and fry wrote: Leela: It's amazing that your people can fall in love so fast.
Dr. Zoidberg: Love? That word is unknown here. I'm just looking for a female swollen with eggs who will accept my genetic material.
Fry: You and me both, brother!
