licence codes..

Post by chuxsta »

any one know what the code for car provisional entitlement is on your licence?

have found the DVLAs code list but cant see car provisional on there..

bit concerned as i have just tried to book my car theory test on-line and it wont let me, cause i either have passed it or dont have the correct entitlement on my licence to do so..

if i have already passed it then bonus!!! some one did say a while ago that when i did my full bike test with theory it might cover the car theory and i wont need to do it...

if its cause i don't have the provisional car category on my licence then OOOO DEAR... hahaha.. i have been having driving lessons the past 3 weeks with out it.. HEHEHE>.

What about asking your instructor? Surely he/she has come across this before and should know.
It's been too many years since I was a bike instructor, but I do remember the car licience use to act as a provisional for a bike so it might be the same the other way around too. Mind you the law's probably changed and I'm just wishful thinking, I've still got the white flags if you need someone to run ahead in front :biggrin

well,,,, this is a turn up i wasnt expecting..

just been on the dog n bone to dvla and dsa.
it appears im exempt from taking the car theory test and dont need to do it ...
it appears my theory i did for my bike test covers me..

cause i was sure when i did my bike theory they said at the time its the same as a car theory but has a few extra questions than normal to cover the bike aspect..

It must be that the car theory test does not cover you to do your bike test. I was an bike instructor for 12 years and all the car driver had to do the bike theory test!

PS remember when going round a corner in a car you don't have to lean!!!

A friend of mine had been riding for 20 years when he started to learn to drive. On his first few lessons his instructor had to sit holding the collar of his shirt to stop him trying to lean in the corners
It only took him 4 test to pass

Im in the same boat.
But i was told that your full Motorcycle licence also acts as a car provisional.
just been on the dog n bone to dvla and dsa.

it appears my theory i did for my bike test covers me..
Interesting... have to find out for myself as well. :)

ok.. word is that if you passed your full bike test before feb 2001 you don't need to do another theory for your car test. happy as larry about that one cause i have been doing the mock tests recently and some of the stuff is stupid on there now...
like
what colour is an animal ambulance?
how long should you hold a compress on a burn for after a car crash?
^^ it dont state what type of burn it is......

the hazard awareness test is just lame! from a bikers point of view i was smacking the screen every other second...
well not the screen but my mouse button.
i also spotted some roads where i used to go out on my bike that i recognised.. that was a bit odd, it also caused me to miss the hazards while i was trying to place the road

even though i was panicking about not having a provisional car cat on my licence i do have it on there.
i just asked the question originally in this post as the online booking form said i couldn't book my theory for the car because i had already done it or i didnt have the right driving licence categorises.

So you know, car entitlement is B

If its on your main license with your bike, you should have a full car license.
If its on the paper counterpart, it will be under "Provisional Entitlement"...
