Hello there..
Hello there..
Bought my VTR last weekend. Had bikes for years but this is my first V twin. Appears to be all nearly standard, just a little cleaning up to do.
Will sort out my photobucket account and get some photos up. It's a 1998 model in black,
Stupid questions to follow..

Re: Hello there..
bike looks good, and welcome to the forum.
if it is all standard make sure you fix the Cam Chain Tensioner [CCT], I dont want to read another post where the engine has bent the valves.
All the info is in the workshop section, but we will be happy to talk you through the mods to make it fail safe.

Cheers for the welcome

I've read the how to change your CCT, Not found any info on what to change it for? A new standard one, or a custom manual one? Quiet taken with the manual ones, The bike won't get used lots really, sunny days mainly (not that many of those up here).

Re: Hello there..
pm rider on a storm and get your name down for a set of his TT manuals, very good indeed!Richy wrote:

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Re: Hello there..
Thanks for all the welcomes, and many thanks for a great site. After reading a lot on here I've pm'd rider on a storm for some of his manual cct's already. This week I've fitted a scotoiler, greased my rear suspension linkages, Bled the brakes and clutch, cleaned up behind the front sprocket cover, put some new rear pads in, new sticker on the fairing (cheap from the dealer) and had a new back tyre fitted. Even got to go out on it this week between rain showers up here.

Yup, it was having read that post how it got on the list of tasks to do! Many thanks for the heads up! It was the two longer bolts on mine that were showing signs of corrosion, not the shorter ones.
Re: Hello there..
Good man Richy. I think your Scot oiler is another worth while mod too.
