Sunday i went for my 2 nd obsevered rideout. First thing i had to do was a figure of 8, first attempt was nearly a disaster. started the manouver then cramp set in on both hips, 2nd attempt was a little bit better. Off on the roads we went, this time it was nearly all horrible bumpy country lanes with little villages.
My postioning for bends were a lot better but from now on i have to stay on my side of the road,not cross the white line, but still reluctant to go near the kerb on lefthand bends. Still struggling with speed limits(such a inconveniece they are) I find the storm very heavy on my wrist at 30mph so speed tends to creep up a little bit. mostly good overtakes except 1 when after overtaking 3 cars i nearly missed the oncoming car.
Overall i improved on nearly everything but still need to work on my speed, low speed manouvering and postioning for lefthand bends oh and i need to get a new backtyre.

I went through exactly the same as you. Struggling with keep as far left as is safe to do so on right handers. Also, the storm definitely was not designed to travel at 30. Another thing I went through was Observation Fatigue. If you get it, you'll know exactly what I mean.

so am i since riding back from wales this summer, came hurtling round a left hander with 2 bikes close behind, only to come face to face with a tractor with a hedgecutting attachment coming towards me on my side of the road...gumbie man wrote: still reluctant to go near the kerb on lefthand bends.

if i was hugging the kerb i'd have hit it no doubt.
fortunately there was nothing coming the other way as it took up the whole lane.

tbh i can understand going in the left kerb on right handers, to see further round the bend, but i am never in so much of a rush to use the right hand kerb in a left hander....
been off too many times lol.
if plod instructor told me to do that i'm sorry but i'd have to tell him to crouton himself.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

When going near the left kerb on right handers, to see further round the bend, you should really adopt the safety rule "You must be able to stop, on your side of the road, in the distance that's seen to be clear"
If I frequented the road near to the right hand kerb during the test, I would have failed unless it was during a safe overtaking manoeuvre .

exactly... a right hander to you is a left hander to oncoming traffic, and they will be taking it toward the middle of the road, so apart from being able to see clearly round the bend, keeping far left keeps you clear of oncoming traffic who may have took the bend wide.geodude wrote:

if i can't see round a bend i won't pin it. that tractor incident shows you never know what is round a blind bend!

I'd count that as a bad thing.
Personally I try to completely miss them, it hurts less.

It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
