Post by nickyboy4 »

Hi all, just got myself a vtr1000 and thought i'd introduce myself-got it off ebay for £800, it's standard and original with a full mot-i actually got it to mildly streetfighter it but not sure whether it's too nice to start taking bits off!

hello!
sounds like a bargain.
have a good read up & do the obvious mods.
if you search streetfighter here you will see a few threads - might give you a few ideas.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Hi, welcome.

Is that all they're worth now?

Not sure if I can be bothered being careful in the snow any more if you can just pick up a replacement one cheap.....

If you fighter it the plastics will get you some cash back on here.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

to be fair i bought the bike totally blind off ebay without even having seen a photo, it's just had an mot but it really is cruddy looking-the guy i bought it off lived in a mansion and his name on the v5 is that of an Earl-shame he didn't spend some of his reputed wealth on getting it cleaned-still seems cheap for one of these!

Welcome to the forum. I picked mine up for just under 1K on ebay. Its a little tatty and has been dropped on its side at low speed once. but it is pretty much standard so I'm going to have lots of fun modifying it to my taste.

I wont be goin down the streetfighter look because I think it ruins a perfectly good bike. Going to start with braided hoses because I cant belive the ones I have on the bike are still the factory fitted ones and havent rotted. The bike is black with red decals so thinking getting the pro bolt kit in red and change the bolts just to give little highlights of red throughout the bike. Poss the hoses in read. I hear they have a tendancy to bleach in the sun (what sun) and turn pink. And im thinking red rim tape for the wheels, although the majority I have spoken to dont like the tape.

Pipes will have to wait due to family and lack of funds but a set of black carbon look scorps would look great on the beastie.

Little tweaks like that.

yeh i'm not 100% committed to the streetfighter look-access to the rear of my house is very tight so the fairing and mirrors do make it difficult getting it round the corner so i'll have to see-bodywork on mine is ok so no real need to remove it, wheels will need a repaint now what goes with silver would you say?

Only 2 colours work well with silver.

Blue and purple
