Thats shocking. Ours is so expensive because we are at war with the people who supply the majority of the oil and then the government have the cheek to tax the baldrocks out of it. Like they do with everything else.

Erm we can start with Lybia recently but looking into the past we've had Iraq which was well documented.

Yes, we did liberate Iraq, but, not wishing to be overly pedantic, that we are at war, not were, so I wondered who you meant. We aren't at war with Lybia but are part of NATO, but that won't increase the price of our oil disproportionately anyway (USA is part of NATO but their oil is much cheaper than ours), Lybia only produces 10% of the world's oil and the bulk comes from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states with who we are not fighting. Quite the reverse, we have actively supported these totalitarian states to GET cheap oil by propping up their dictators and corrupt royal familes.

As I also said in my first post on the topic. We tax the sh1t out of it. Oil prices have rocketed recently and the majority of the oil we get is from Iraq. We may have liberated it but at what cost?

Thats partly to blame for the increasing oil price hike. Add the taxation. Our petrol price is the same as the price in the US until the government add its tax. And thats without taking into account that America is a huge producer of oil. The UK's oil production is next to none in comparison to some of the other producing countries.

We may not be at war with Lybia but we have troops there fighting. We may no longer be at war with Iraq, or liberating as you call it, but we did, along with the iraqi government and American troops set fire to hundreds of oil wells on our way to that liberation.

only 10p, our local chinese had a refit a few weeks ago, need platinum american express card to order now.

Sorry, but, no we don't have any troops fighting in Lybia! We buy our oil on the same markets as the rest of Europe. It's oil speculation, not scarcity, pushing up the price of crude. As for petrol, the level of tax is absolutely criminal, I'll agree with you there. It was for our own good apparently, to encourage us to use non existent buses and trains, unless you live in London.

The level of taxation is a prime example of top-down financial terrorism.

And much is misunderstood about Iraq, oil and the speculators (not surprising given the levels of disinformation) but rather than go into the details I recommend reading the excellent 'Armed Madhouse' by Greg Palast, and in particular, read about the Red Line Agreement of the twenties - the purpose being to KEEP Iraqi light sweet crude (easy to find, extract and distill) IN THE GROUND. And how Saddam was tricked into an invasion following Kuwaits deliberate exceeding of OPEC quotas using Iraq's own oil, drawn using the then new cross-drilling tech provided by the Dark Lord (you can work it out). A massive trap laid to maintain the con that continues today.

I always try and plan my trips to avoid motorway services but occasionally get caught out and then I only put sufficient in to get home .
Then when I go to pay for it I have a polite but firm conversation with the guy on the till and always ask him to pass on my comments to his boss if every customer did this maybe we could see prices fall to a more acceptable level.
I always have a go at my MP about prices too.
