Had an off

Post by Jazzscot »

Heading south on the a92 today I was at the Bankhead roundabout. Was in lane two and a car cut right across me I managed to get on the brakes but my front wheel touched the car and caused me to lose it. Down she went on the left side and I went bouncing down the road. I'm currently waiting on xrays to my left arm. Worst of all the driver never stopped. I have witnesses but we didn't manage to get a reg. I'll let you know how I get on.
I'm thinking I might need some left hand side stuff for the bike but I will let you know once I get her.

sorry to hear about this bud, but you must report this to plod with the location, time and description of the car... this happened to me a few years ago and police traced the driver off a cctv camera at a petrol station where he'd just filled up, 5 mile down the road.
they went to his house and found him fillering the damage to his car... he got nicked on the spot.
left me with a broken leg & written off bike on top of me :Argue 1:

if you need a number of a good bike solicitor let me know.

Think I have a spare clutch lever in a bag.... let me go check fast.

*sounds of rummaging in the cupboard*

Yep. Got a clutch lever if you want it. Got a right footpeg too but thats probably no good.

PM me an addy if you need it buddy. Hopefully your not too badly injured and the bikes easy fixable.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.

Thanks for your kind words folks. Im just back from the hospital and Im happy to report that I have no broken bones. I do however have a big feck off lump on my elbow the size of a tennis ball and have a very sore shoulder and neck. It feels like I have just played three games of rugby.
Image

The police were on the scene pretty quickly and they said they would look at cctv and see if they can find anything. The police were sound like, one of them was a biker and knew exactly how to empathise with me. It was a middle aged woman driving I think she only saw me as I nudged her bumper with my wheel.

I was aware of other cars around me as I was going down and didnt just want to bin the bike across the lanes as more sh1t could of happened I kinda tried to lay her down so she slid away from me and any other cars.

The guy behind me said it was amazing. " you hit the deck did a couple of barrel rolls and you were on your feet again pretty sharpish" Thats cause I was trying to look along the road to get a feckin Reg number :q52:
If i could of I would of been back on my bike and after her. The police said she may not of been aware that she had caused an accident, I replied that I know she did cause as I hit her I could see her looking in the mirror and as she drove on I could tell that the car was slowing down a wee bit to have a look.

So as has been said before Im ok which is great but its annoying as feck that my bike is damaged through no fault of my own. If I want to make an insurance claim then it would have to be on my insurance as I dont have the details of the other party.

I dont think Ill bother, cause I have a high excess if I claim. I actually think the bike got off lightly considering what happened. Was prob only travelling 35mph or so at the time. Will have a proper look at the bike tomorrow to see what it needs.
Left hand link pipe is squashed, fairing damaged, bent clutch lever, bent handlebars, indicator smashed etc.

Its a jungle out there!!!!!!!!!

Ahh mate sorry to hear this. I just had an off too on Sunday so know exactly how you feel, though I went down on the right and my right elbow has a nice burn like yours :?

Im going to look at a bike tomorrow to salvage bits for mine. The guy has already said he wants £120 for the fairing, and now ive taken mine off, im thinking of buying the RHS of it. If you need the left let me know.

Also if you need an exhaust ill be selling a Scorpion and link pipes shortly.

Im going to replace my standard indicators for LED ones, so will have a set of left hand side ones going, you can have them for free mate.

Is a left hand link pipe for attaching the standard cans? Is it a seperate pipe to the main header section? I think I have the main bit, plus umm, 3 other sections. One I need because its for the rear cylinder I think, but the other two...I dont think I need at all.

Will it fit? If so, I can let you have the link pipe. If you're lucky, it might be the one I polished up to test my dremel..!

A pic of what you need would help :)

PS. The pipes I have are from a 2005 if that matters.

speak to a solicitor first.... google sorrymate.com & white-dalton
if police manage to trace the driver she will get absolutely fkt for leaving the scene...
a car doesnt actually have to hit you for you to claim off them... if they caused you to crash then they are liable for damages.
you need to speak to a solicitor... and before you attempt to repair your bike.
keep pestering the plod as well and at least get a crime number.

even if they cant trace the driver you can still claim against the mib which doesnt count as a claim on your insurance.
even if you do lose ncb for claiming, the solicitors above will class that as an uninsured loss and make sure you are compensated for higher premiums, so you have nothing to lose.
dont let the bitch get away with it ffs.

do you have legal cover btw?
