Hunting

Post by Bearcat »

I'm on holiday in Brittany on the bike. It's been hunting at constant revs around the 3000 mark. It's particularly bad in gears one to fours. It only seems most noticable when the throttle is on the balance point between accelerate and overrun. It engine related, clutch in and disappears. Any suggestions?

Crack in vacuum line? Or loose connection somewhere on vac side, possibly carb diaphragms.
Live with it until you get back.

Unless there's also popping and banging in the exhaust, in which case it's a balancer take-off/vac line that's failed completely, and it will run lean, so you need to replace the lines.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Thank you. I will do a check. I had a scottoiler fitted about 800 miles ago. I wonder if the lune to it has come loose.

Any update? I've just put this one on the road and its doing exactly the same thing. I'll check over the carbs for balance etc. but if there is something else to look for it will speed the job up.

Cheers
