Lights modification.

Post by Rad_Draven »

Hello guys, I've seen some kind of lights modification long time ago. Im unable to find it again on the forum. It was the front light, and it looked like a cilinder inside the glass. How can I do something like that? And how much it can cost? I need to replace the front light anyway. Thanks a lot.

Search for HID ;-)

for 3 letter queries use google site search

Might be a problem at MOT time

http://www2.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/d ... lamps.html

So you might do better with an Eastern Beaver relay kit with ceramic bulb holder and getting better efficiency from a more conventional bulb set up.

The problem that I have is that I'm riding the bike in Spain, and the light slightly spots the wrong side of the road, so I need to do something to fix it for our MOT. So now that I have to change that, I would preffer to put that light. Do you know where could I buy it? Thaks a lot :)

best bet is to use a projector light made for the Spanish market and graft it in how you would do this youtube is your friend

You could as a temporary measure adjust the headlight using the adjuster screw on the bottom right corner of the headlight unit. clockwise to move the beam left - anticlockwise to move it right.

Why?
I've been lighting up the wrong side of the road for years.
Mine is an import, and dips the wrong way.
Every year it gets noticed by the tester, who tells me that it's wrong, and I say:
"Oh, I didn't know that; I'll look out for a RH dip one".

Then he tells me how my exhaust has damaged his hearing, and I go home and change it for a quiet one- just for the afternoon.....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Mine is also an import and dips the wrong way, this year was the first year that it was picked up by the tester. Had a stick on reflector that I chucked on and he was fine with that. Same as tony though, it may have come off soon after...

Well, the problem in spain is that our MOT is very different to yours. Here they told you: "The light is spotting the wrong side of the road, your'e not allowed to drive it until you replace it" and if the police stops you driving like that, they make you pay a big penalty.

Anyway, I tried to turn the adjuster screw, but im afraid that is not enought here...

If there's not enough adjustment then as an idea you could try shimming the headlight unit where it screws into the front plastic panel, to repoint it further to the right. Otherwise you'll need to get a second-hand headlight for the storm from the Continent / USA.

My Storm is a German import. It has a German headlight, but all I do at MOT time is stick some insulating tape on the glass where the deflectors are and it passes every year.

On the way home the tape and the baffles from the exhausts disappear :D
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

I thought of that, but it's a long way to go, even to meet half way :D
