vtr1000 transalp

Post by mad4it028 »

hi i have a compleat vtr1000 in good running order and have the chance of a transalp 600 v twin which has got me thinking , could i fit the vtr engine into the transalp for an insanely powerfull adventure bike ?
ill have all vtr electrics carbs etc so no issue there but will there be room in the frame for the engine i can move and weld mounts ok
its just an idea at the moment and will only buy the transalp if im convinced the vtr engine will fit without major frame work
ide rather do it to an africa twin but there still fetching silly money and the transalp is pocket change
bikes bought dead or alive crash damged , none runners , abandond projects

i think the superhawk forum might be a better place to ask as they are just as crazy as you lol
or you could just buy a xl1000 :D

i could yes but if this project is possable the whole bike would stand me at less than £500
paid £300 for vtr and offered transalp minus engine for £150

Why not build around the storm engine in its original frame using all the forks & stuff from the transalp.

Edit seatch for: SuMoHawk

...on the Superhawk forum who worked on something similar that reduced him to a gibbering wreck.

No idea if the engine will fit without chopping and welding the frame, but as the transalp swingarm pivots from the frame, and the Storm and Vara pivot from the rear of the gearbox, not exactly straightforward.
You might be better off looking for a Vara with a wrecked engine.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

the transalp has a 58 degree vtwin compaired to the 90 on the vtr so i would need alot more space or extend the frame which isnt going to happen
so i still like the idea but its not going to happen and i shall crack on with streetfightering the firestorm

yep not a great idea imo , very messy , high bars vfr800 tank , unless you want to go very off road ?
the transalps chassis would struggle with thhe wieght and deffo with the performance :biggrin

and dont think theres any way to get it in anyways ,
