wheel rims

Post by hammie »

hi all, i have recently bought a 2nd set of rims which i will get power coated, rear arrived, as new, no probs, front arrived today, its got a dink in the rim [good old tw@ bay strikes again, no mention of this on the listing of course] it was cheap so im wondering if its safe to tap the dink back out????? maybe heat it up a bit first with a blow torch?? or will i just crack or brake it??
any advice welcome

depends how bad it is mate, you can heat them and try tapping out (wooden mallet) if you send it back to the seller you will have to pay the postage so depends on how cheap it was in the first place!

trouble is mate if you buy something for a fiver and it cost a tenner to send it back you loose out again, ebay states its upto the buyer to pay return postage! sucks ass but thats the way it is, if the sellers a good guy then you may get lucky (but we are talking fleabay here!) :Argue 1:

ive fixed a fair few dented wheels by holding a hardwood hammer shaft against the dent and hit it with another hammer.
youd have to be very clumsy to break the rim.
you can then get the emery on it and dress out any marks.
You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

I just had one trued, they (Motoliner, at Aylesford, kent) used heat and a big hammer.
Three dents found, but now trued and being re-powdercoated.

I know they used heat, 'cause it burnt all the new powdercoat off!

Lesson to be learnt by self: check for roundness BEFORE powdercoating.....
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
