EFI

Post by t11 »

Hi Guys.....thought I'ed better post this on hear at last before I get hung !.....efi much has been said on this fitting it to a firestorm in the past and after doing a conversion on my classic car and had a few bits and bobs left over and gained a bit more info the bike came to mind, this is a very basic setup as it had to be used everyday so reliable, once the carbs where removed I could see what space was there so what I've got is a inverted Y connected to the cylinders and a flat mounting plate at the top of the Y and an toyota MR2 TB bolted to that in a horizontal plane, at the cylinder end of the Y a boss has been welded to take the injector (at the moment they are 293cc) the air box mounts direct onto the TB with air temp switch fitted along with a water temp switch fitted in line in the top hose, there are both GM items as they work with the ECU which by the way is a megajolt, nice and small and easy to tuck away, ignition has been left standard for the moment but another engine on the bench and running has a trigger wheel and a VR sensor and that with special cams crank and rods is putting out more that I had hoped for, the bike its self has been running up and down the A11M11 and A14 for about a year now and apart from doing a re-map to cope with the cold weather and touch wood its been great, so after breakfast its back in the workshop to fit the tuned engine in my spare bike and see how it goes...wish my luck

Ah, so no vardadero bits, you used a single throttle body off a car, like it.

What are you using to calculate the air mass flow? Just throttle position, or have you got air pressure or flow sensors?

Post some pictures of the installation, this sounds lie a great garage engineering project

interesting. 8)
would be interested in seeing some dyno runs.
When subjected to an electrical voltage of at least 50 volts, a cat's tail always points toward the north.

Hi I'am just using a TPS for the load as its the same system as I've got on the car so had a good starting point.......mpg is around 55 mpg with hard riding ad the dyn o showed 120 bhp at the back wheel the other engine showed 135 bhp on the dyno not too sure what it will end up with after a bit more time, the aim is to better the works wsb honda's that foggy rode............

If those figures are from a well calibrated dyno, you may need to worry about other components failing under the increased output. Conrods and swingarm pivot spring to mind.
A chat with roger at revolution racing will tell you where the weak points are.

What other mods have been done other than efi?

Nice one!

look forward to the pictures,

at 55mpg + it might pay off in the long run for every one.
