Warmner climates ARE dinefatly on the horizon (OK in a forgeign land no doubt).

Need to gove my bike a seeing too.... what oil should I use for my funky wee VTR?

I have no service history to my bike... tut tut
I know it has a new chain, new tyres and braided hoses.. but the rest - bah. no idea. Sounds Ok

I plan to do: break fluid, oil, oil filter, clean air filter or replace if it is really manky, fit mannual CTT's...

Is there anything else I should do?

New plugs, Iridium ones.
Check brake pads, clean calipers, and check/lube lower shock linkages, for starters.
You can also consider steering head bearings, if yours are at all worn.

See what sort of RR you have, if it's the old unfinned one replace it with a finned, preferably MOSFET one.

That'll do for this afternoon....

Oh, and tyre pressures- no-one checks tyre pressures regularly enough, including me.

Iridium things - I shall order.

I doubt for 1 second I will be able to undo the stearing head to see the bearings.. But with 12k surley they should be OK?

What is an RR?.... Google suggested car, but I can't belive anyone would have a car fitted to their bike

Regulator rectifier- it's under the seat plastics on the RH side.
If it's got fins, leave it alone.
if it hasn't replace it with one that won't fail and potentially knock out your battery.

for the oil question, use a motorcycle semi synthetic 10/40.........dont waste money on fully synthetic, the engine isnt stressed enough to need it, and a few Honda mechs have told me it can give clutch slip. I use Castrol from Halfords

I have some full left over from my R6/Blade days... so prob just have to use that.

I'm going to spend they day doing mine Sat.

CCT's, oil,filters, plugs, carb balance ( if needed, which I doubt ).

Was going to fit a scottoiler, but not paying £ 90 for one, so I'll wait. Best things ever though, provided they're set up properly.

Erm, why is the drain plug so un-obvious. Was easy on the R6

Fount the fukker.

RR's checked and was finned
pads checked
coolant topped
air filter cleaned and new one ordered
brake fluid will wait until I have a buddy to help
Cant find spark plugs. Oh nose

you might want to do your clutch fluid whilst your doing your breaks, its dot 4.
if your fluid is dirty dark and manky change it!

So it is the same fluid for clutch and break .. ?

Take it the spark plugs are under the base of the air-filter container - can't see how to get that orft

One is under the tank ( Rear one that is ).To find the front plug,if you look at the front of the engine from under the headlight you should spot it, or at least the lead to it.
I was probably near you today, had a ride out to baldock, via Bishops Stortford etc.
